I wanted to ask what people think about this roster. It's a Sundays outside one, but the Sundays are committed. The red starred Sundays are optional (you have to opt out not to work) but you're not guaranteed to work even if you don't opt out, if that makes sense. Seeing other peoples comments...
Everywhere I've worked is still manual paper submission, scanned and emailed to rosters daily. We've just got an app to see whether it's gone through earlier than normal but the railway is still very backward in this regard.
Depends what roster you are in but anything apart from the bottom one, yes (excludes London/Cambridge). Plus you also sign Ipswich to Lowestoft and Ipswich to Felixstowe.
Yes. If you do say 20 Sundays a year at £325 a shift that's £6,500. Depending on whether you can squeeze any more in you could bump it up a bit. Do the same amount of rest days and you're looking at adding £12k to your salary, easy.
You can't just compare basic salary, you need to factor Sundays, additional rest day payments and any other enhancements agreed - they all add up.
If you compared former WAGN to Southeastern, Southeastern is worse off as Sundays are included in their basic and it's only about £3k more than WA...
This is a great thread, thank you!
Does anyone know the balance of work/pros and cons of work split between Penzance/Par/Plymouth and which one is best to try and apply for?
Than in advance
Perhaps, perhaps not. Look at the disproportionate amount of class 755 failures. Although you'd expect it to an extent being new, the miles per technical incident figures are incredibly low.
755428 a failure today - spewing oil/fuel all the way from Beccles/Brampton until it was stopped around Westerfield. Finally on the move after a Stadler tech got onboard and isolated some engines...
