Well I would say the Valleys Lines especially Merthyr to Cardiff has crippled the X4 service. It was once up to 6 times and hour. Now only 6 days a week and once an hour. The bus is now much more expensive than the train. I am guessing bus pass users do well with it though.
I have to be honest a Merthyr - Swansea bus is badly needed again. Stopping at Neath Railway Station made this a great link for travelling further west to Llanelli and beyond!
Well I struggle with the Llanelli but to train connection. The first 128 from Cross Hands at 6:40am arrives at 7:07am. The train leaves at 7:19am. 12 mins is not a lot of time to catch it and I have to run a lot of the way with a heavy backpack and bags. I have missed it before now...
I meant that for future use, say more lines electrified, they would be difficult with a low top speed. I know on the Valleys Line it will not matter but then they really are more suited to Heavy Rail anyway - and yes I know it was to aid on street running in the Cardiff area!
Well with the signal fault at Llanishen today it is impacting trains Rhymney to Barry Island/Bridgend. I was lucky the 7:09am from Cardiff was late by 2 mins and got on a Queen St. However, been catching the 7:29am all week which has been a 231 everytime. Today was a 150 and 8 mins late! It...
It is just typical I purchased a weekly Merthyr to Bridgend Friday, and had an email about this Saturday! Still I plan to use it Friday, then next week. I do use it from time to time but nearly got caught out forgetting to tap off a couple of times!
TFW are not covering themselves in glory are they? The 398s for example were supposed to be starting December guaranteed but not certain. It is about time the Coryton line was all 756/0s by now! They deserve better!
What you will notice in Wales is when it is lovely weather like today school is on so Barry Island does not get the traffic like in the summer holidays
Realtimetrains had the 11:30am Manchester to Milford Haven service down as a 2 car 197. It was horrendously late and guess what? It was a 150. 40 mins or so late getting off at Llanelli. I was lucky to get as seat but msny not do
Well Merthyr Vale and Abercynon both unmanned WILL have toilets for the 398s. I do not know if they will be manned or restricted to the timetable we shall see.
Hmm I use TFW services a lot, Merthyr To Cadoxton/Bridgend, and to Llanelli/Carmarthen - sometimes Llandybie. When it comes to Android may give it a try.
