Has anyone looked into or has any information regarding getting work as a Train Driver in Oz?

When working nights, say 11pm-6am on a monday night, how can tuesday be classed as a rest day? Your working 6 hours that tuesday morning, yet they class it as a day off. How is that fair?

Thanks for all the advice regarding the assessment day, structured interview and managers interview info. Really helped out. Now the real work starts.

Currently waiting for a course to come up, but it seems to be taking a while. Getting a little worried now. Has anyone passed all the assessments/interviews/medicals only for the job to be withdrawn at the last minute?

Is it just the pay and conditions? An interest in trains? What's your reason?

Got my assessment day for C2C on Friday. I've studied lots of websites, done the tests, prepared for the interview. Hope all this prep comes together.

I'm currently working for Network Rail maintaining the overhead lines. I missed out on the assessment process in April for NXEA but my name is down for the next assessment at the end of the year. Has anyone here gone through the assessment? What can i expect? Thanks
