ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

Yes there does. Otherwise it will risk falling foul of (for example) unfair contract terms rules.

ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

Curious to see the legal basis for this.

Ex-banker banned from railway after dodging £5,900 of train fares

Did you get that from AI? It’s inaccurate in several respects.

Invalid bank cards permitting exits at TfL barriers

This isn't correct. Oyster cards can be invalid for exit even if cleared to enter, for example if they were hotlisted but had dropped off the locally stored list because of non-use. In the past, exit was also denied for lack of OEP when needed. Other options I'm aware of being used are "visa...

Ex-banker banned from railway after dodging £5,900 of train fares

I can't find any article specifying the mechanism used to ban him, but two possibilities that came to mind were The ban is a condition of his suspended sentence, like the unpaid work. Breaching this is not an offence in and of itself, but would enable HM Probation Service to initiate breach...

Ex-banker banned from railway after dodging £5,900 of train fares

They may raise a question, but they do not beg a question. 8-) It seems he may have had a Z1-2 Travelcard with JCP discount loaded to his smartcard. I cannot imagine it would be logistically feasible to reject these at London Bridge.

Proposal to remove 15 Minute Delay Repay - what could be done instead?

Bearing in mind the Consumer Rights Act would also cap compensation for poor performance of the service at the amount paid for a ticket, I think the question of someone claiming the value of a full return ticket on the outbound leg plus something on the return leg being capped at the total paid...

Proposals to remove 15-minute Delay Repay

I have little confidence in the industry being able to make such a credit system work, although once GBR is fully deployed, that may change. It would not at all surprise me if this happened.

Received witness statement from GTR and I don’t actually have a railcard.

You will not be going to prison so put that out of your head. How long ago was it that you were stopped by an officer in person?

Proposals to remove 15-minute Delay Repay

The government is looking to remove 15 minute Delay Repay as part of GB Rail transition. A retrograde step in my opinion. Delay Repay 15 is in use by the majority of TOCs and provides a better incentive to keep journeys to time. If there is a concern about the administrative burden of handling...

Will I get a Pentaly Fare?

Did you scan the ticket to enter Leicester station, or to leave? How did you pass through the ticket gates if they rejected your ticket?

    Advice for GTR SJPN

£135 is a relatively standard costs amount for non-CPS prosecutors to claim on a case that goes to court and is dealt with on the first occasion. As a solicitor must be involved in authorising the charges.

Wife received Penalty Charge Notice issued despite having digital Railway Photocard, why?

There are a lot of different season ticket ID card formats and no central database, so no ticket seller is able to check whether a particular number is valid or not. It is, but the one you purchased required a photocard, not a "digital ID", to be valid. Railcards are not free, they cost £35...

Discussion About the Use of Lay Prosecutors in Court

Normal procedure on ordering compensation would be that District Judge Tempia will have made a collection order and either an attachment of earnings order or a deduction from benefits order. The latter order is self explanatory. The former order allows for HMCTS staff to take a range of actions...

Heathrow Piccadilly closed, contactless refund for Elizabeth fare difference?

Probably not, but the LU POMs at the underground station nearby will sort you. As yorkie states, it is not TfL's policy to refund extra contactless fares incurred in situations like this. There's no scenario where you'd pay £16.90 though; the Z1-6 daily cap is £16.30. Final option coming to...

Prosecuted for expired railcard before boarding train

In the unlikely event that a Compulsory Ticket Area is in play here, it should be noted that there is no penalty available for a breach of National Rail Byelaw 17. (A court could order compensation and costs, however.)

    Re-routing when delayed

Your claim is for a refund of the LNER ticket, as rerouting, and DelayRepay of 100% of the price of the Lumo ticket having arrived more than 60 minutes late. Both parts of the claim go to Lumo. I can see you are already aware that you may well have difficulty with your claim for the cost of the...

    Misuse Freedom Pass Court Summons

If we're talking about incidents in August and the court hearing is in March, TfL won't be able to look further at anything, as they'll be out of time to prosecute.

    Delay Repay claims rejected

My wife had an Avanti claim rejected relating to a service in late November. She was travelling from London to Birmingham Intl on a Glasgow service that was diverted due to a meltdown in Rugby and skipped stops up to Wolverhampton. Avanti are claiming the service ran only 7 minutes late, which...
