Occasionally when trains are short-formed during busy times, some or all of the first class areas are declassified to reduce overcrowding (at least in EMT-land).
But today's announcement had the opposite effect - due to a short train we were advised that "the whole of Coach D is now for first...
Thanks for your reply. I wish I'd seen this page before making the journey!
This is very helpful, although it really is counter-intuitive. Their website could do with being a little clearer on how the caps work.
Thinking about what the cheapest ways to make my journey would have been...
Hello,
I made a number of journeys yesterday using my Oyster card, which is linked up to my 16-25 Railcard. All of the journeys were after 10am.
First, I took the Thameslink from Gatwick to St Pancras, for which the fare is £5.30. I then made a number of Underground journeys within zones...
Does anybody know whether this product is classed as a Season Ticket and covered by the NRCoC, for the purposes of being able to obtain a replacement for a lost ticket under Section 34?
Having spoken to the South Yorkshire PTE I was advised that the product is issued by "National Rail"...
Yes. I mentioned it to booking office staff and also to Customer Relations. In both cases the reply was that the journey details are visible and therefore there is no problem.
How badly does a TVM need to be printing tickets before something gets done about it? For example:
It's particularly irritating that the price is unreadable, for example, as this will make it a lot harder to claim back the cost of the tickets from work!
Could this be resolved by a correctly done reprint or is it a limitation of the TIS and will just happen again?
In any event I shall at least try to see whether they'd be willing to reprint it on the blue stock.
So I bought my season ticket (annual Chesterfield to Sheffield) and was expecting an actually durable blue bi-laminate ticket but received a regular orange one.
Interestingly none of the fields are labelled, i.e. it has the expiry date but doesn't say 'Valid until', it says STD but not...
Another question I had about this - I could choose between a Stagecoach Smart card or a paper ticket.
I've always been a fan of paper tickets as they can't suddenly break. The card is more durable but I don't always trust these things...
Am I right in believing the Smart card must be accepted...
That's another thing I keep forgetting. After then it takes over an hour on the 50 or longer on the 43/44 :(
And that's yet another point. No free wifi on the train. Although for the journey time it'd barely be useful anyway!
Thanks for all of your comments so far.
I would most likely travel on at least one more day each week, and more in some weeks. Although it wouldn't be at peak times, so a railcard off-peak day return would be £3.35.
Some parts of the Stagecoach bus website are more helpful than others...
Hi all,
I will soon need to commute between Chesterfield and Sheffield three days per week at peak times. I have so far learned the following:
An Anytime Day Return costs £6.40, so that'd work out at £19.20 a week (except in July and August when I could use a railcard discount).
An annual...
I just used the Gatwick Express website to check the prices and times of the service. Now when I go onto the normal Southern website and put in any journey and click 'Buy Rail Tickets' I get redirected to the Gatwick Express homepage unless I clear my cookies...
This includes St Pancras to...
Is it possible to get a refund if this happens? Normally I'd assume this applied where you chose not to travel as a result, but with seat reservations not being honoured how would you find out before you've started your journey?
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
