Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Which is why I think the person I spoke to from Virgin Trains gave me the best advice in waiting until I start making alternative travel plans. No-one seems to know the details. It's odd that engineering work of this nature is announced after advanced tickets are sold and only 4 weeks away from...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

This now brings up another question. Will I have to get the rail replacement bus on my advance ticket or will I be allowed to take alternative train services?

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Thank you. That has literally just come onto their website, straight after I spoke to them. Spooky. At least I know I need to arrange alternative travel now. Can't be a complete closure, looks like some trains are going through, i.e. the direct Inverness to Glasgow trains.

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Spoken to National Rail, Scotrail and Virgin this evening and they're all really stumped as to where the Perth to Glasgow trains have disappeared to that week. As I made the bookings through Virgin, they're going to call me back in an hour after they've looked into it with more depth. I have to...

£10 Anytime Day Return Limit report 2018

Interesting idea. My local station is Coseley, so obviously there are many fares available within the network area. However, going by Anytime Day Returns alone, these are my results, with some significant price increases if you go just one station further, (for example, going on to Warwick...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Yes, that is a factor to consider. We're booked in 1st class for that journey but still no guarantee of a seat I know. Looking back at Real Train times for that week for Perth, I notice there's a HST out on testing, or due to be. I wonder if this is causing some delay in confirming routes or...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Unfortunately, I haven't been as clear as you suggested. I only provided them with my Inverness to Glasgow itinerary and then stated that what was an over an hour connection to my London train at Central was now just a 20 minute and possibly too short. If I don't get a reasonable outcome, I can...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Thanks for the replies Yorkie, very useful advice. Also, many thanks for making the thread title clearer. It's interesting that it could simply be missing data and the train might still run. Hopefully I will find out nearer the time. I've never come across this before though. It will be...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

An outcome that would ensure we can make that 14:40 train at Glasgow so going on an earlier service would be preferable. Having booked advanced tickets and that a valid route is now given via Haymarket, I'm not sure how flexible Scotrail would be with this. (I would also be OK about getting a...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

Yes, that is the leg I mean 12:12 from and not to Perth. My apologies. It severely screws us up after we had booked our tickets. I have just emailed Scotrail about this. Hopefully something can be arranged as we need to be on that 14:40 departure from Glasgow. Seems wrong that they release...

Inverness to London journey: Perth to Glasgow train disappeared after booking.

I booked a ticket for the 2 of us from Inverness to Glasgow back in July to travel on Wednesday 17th October. Got it a very cheap advance price. This is the route our advanced tickets are for: Dep: 09:41 Inverness Arr: 11:56 Perth Dep : 12:12 Perth Arr: 13:16 Glasgow Queen St However, I've...

    Your train journey 'fails'

Used to travel from my family home in Lowestoft back to university in Bangor a lot in the late 90s. Never made the mistake myself but encountered the London Liverpool St/Liverpool Lime St mix up on the train from Norwich a lot. Both trains use to depart fairly close to each other too. One...

Your views: should we have first class on trains at all?

My heart says 'yes' as it isn't right that those who earn less may be forced to stand while 1st class sits empty, (however, this view is becoming more outdated as advance fares can make 1st class more accessible for all). My head says no as 1st class on intercity routes actually creates extra...

    GWR Catering.

I'm booked on the 16:00 from Penzance on a Friday next month as part of my 40th birthday adventure around the country. Really looking forward to trying the Pullman but from what I can gather, there's a chance I may end up disappointed. They did advertise where the service wouldn't be available...

Great Yarmouth - Reedham to close for six months

I grew up in Oulton Broad and used to go to Great Yarmouth a lot. It used to take a bus into Lowestoft town centre and then one of the various bus routes to Yarmouth. I always used to aim for the 600 express as it went straight up the A12 to Gorleston. Most buses went via the coast but one route...

Great Yarmouth - Reedham to close for six months

Does seem strange that this line remained open while the Lowestoft to Yarmouth line closed. I've taken the bus from Lowestoft to Yarmouth many times, there were even multiple bus routes between the two towns during the 80s and each one was fairly well loaded. Surprised they didn't join the lines...

    Wigan to Wolverhampton

Many thanks. Just found another possibility of getting north in the morning peak. Buying an anytime day return to Manchester but splitting at Stafford won't be much more overall than an off peak return from Wolverhampton to Manchester.

    Wigan to Wolverhampton

I'm thinking of using a Lancashire Day Ranger next week. In order to the make the most of the day, I've decided it may be cheaper to book an advance ticket to Wigan so I can get there in the morning peak and get an off peak single for coming back in the evening. That way I'm not having to stress...

Decent train ticket booking site for international journeys?

Just out of interest and hopefully within the topic of this thread, if I was to book a Wolverhampton to Amsterdam on the Eurostar website in Standard Premier, what class would the ticket put me in on the Virgin train from Wolverhampton to London?

    RailUK First Class Lounge Guide

How are the new sleeper lounges at Truro and Penzance coming along? Taking the sleeper down to Penzance in mid-October and wondering if it'll be possible to pop in for a shower and a coffee when we arrive.
