    Special Offers Discussion

I've searched the thread for current offers in the South of England, but cant find anything. I'm staying near Richmond next week so could do anything radiating from London. Have I missed them all, or is there nothing on offer at the moment?

21st June, Yorkshire to London Int CIV

Thank you EW Divide. I also couldn't find times on the booking engines for the Northern service from Ilkley to Leeds in May, for dates after the timetable change. Does anyone know when the summer timetable will be loaded, as we are now inside the 12 week booking date for 21st June.

21st June, Yorkshire to London Int CIV

I'm trying to book Advances from Ilkley to London International CIV on the morning of 21st June. We're travelling on by Eurostar and I already have these tickets. I have booked ILK to London International CIV in the past, and BR Fares does allow this. I'm using the RailEasy booking engine and I...

    Carillion in Liquidation

I agree with your appraisal, but I also know (from a Contractor's point of view) that it is very difficult for Public Servants to justify not accepting the lowest bid. The only time I ever experienced this with a public sector client was in the award of the tunnel and bridge contracts for the...

    Carillion in Liquidation

Yes your wife is quite right, and as a result the CEO of Tarmac (Neville Simms at that time) split the construction and quarrying parts of Tarmac, into Tarmac (quarrying and quarry products) and Carillion the construction company - preventing further takeover attempts. You will see "Tarmac"...

    Special Offers Discussion

I believe some forum members have used old tokens in the past, as they have been changed at least once previously. I guess it depends very much on the member of staff behind the counter at the station. Does anyone know if the Yorkshire Evening Post is still being given free just before the...

Finding TGV Timetables for Angouleme July 2018

Another useful website I came across is Calculator Soup which allows you to put in the date of travel and the number of days from a travel date to a booking date (92 for SNCF or 180 for Eurostar). https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/time/date-calendar.php It produces the date on which...

Finding TGV Timetables for Angouleme July 2018

Thanks I've worked out my booking dates for each leg, and I've checked the train times on the DB website, but I thought the DB site was still giving the unimproved times after Tours. I'll check the Seat 61 website again.

Finding TGV Timetables for Angouleme July 2018

I wondered if the International section of the forum could help me please? I’ll be travelling from Yorkshire to Angouleme and return in early July. I'll travel after the 2nd July when the Atlantique TGV line goes live from Tours to Bordeaux. Travel will be via Leeds and St Pancras...

    RMT dispute on XC

I'm in London at the moment so I don't have the tickets with me. From memory there are both APs and OP Returns split at all the usual points Leeds, Sheffield Derby Birmingham, and Cheltenham. I'm travelling home tomorrow so can check then.

    RMT dispute on XC

Having read the thread I don't think XC will be running on Sunday 26th Nov. I'm travelling out on Friday 24th and back from Cardiff via Birmingham and Leeds using XC on Sunday 26th Nov. I have split tickets through Trainsplit (with lots of splits between Ilkley and Merthyr Tydfil). I'm going to...

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

I thought that might be the case, so didn’t want to build my hopes of it being an IET. Thank you. I’ll do a trip next week on the 1045 from Paddington and go for their excellent brunch menu on an HST and then come back on an IET from Cardiff. I was very lucky to be given a private conducted tour...

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

I'm travelling CDF to PAD on Saturday 11th Nov. Am I right in thinking the 1829 Swansea to Paddington should be an 800/IET ? The Wales Australia game kicks off at 1715 so this is the train I'll probably be catching from CDF after the match at 1926.
