91106 and what looks like ECS has been parked up Northbound at a red signal at Chester-Le-Street for 30 minutes now.Has just been overtaken (wrong line) by a Cross country set.Any body know whats going on?
Chester-Le-Street is my local station. Now privately owned its a big improvment on what it was like under BR.Mainly used by commuters and shoppers going to newcastle, but also handy for days out to York. Many trains pass through but only Transpennine and Northern trains stop.It has its own website...
Does anyone know what time this train passes through Durham on its return journey? I would like to get some pictures at either Durham or Newcastle.Bit early for me on the first leg!
Thank you for your advice.I did offer them free to the Wensleydale Railway to sell in their shop but they did not want them.I am reluctant to recycle the magazines especially the first Rail Enthusiasts,so i will ask around a few more charities.
I have every copy of Rail Enthusiast and a good few of Rail Magazine.Hope to be moving house soon and need the space but their appears to be no market for these magazines,so it looks like they will have to be recycled.I could not even give them away to a local Heritage Railway.
I was being served at Chester-Le-Street ticket office recently when a woman walked in,ignored the queue, and shouted through the glass "Can you wait on any platform?" She was politely told "Yes madam, you can wait on any platform"and she went out.I never found out if she boarded the correct train.
Could not be used at any station, except Weekends and Bank Holidays.By the way I am refering to the Regional rover ticket, not the All Line rover, sorry for any confusion!
My advice, based on personal experience,is to allow plenty of time between connections. Its Sods Law that the train you are on will be late, but the next train you want will leave on time.I missed out on the Settle Line thanks to Northern not holding the Carlisle to Leeds train for one minute to...
I have been to a holiday cottage at Silecroft, it was only a few yards to the station and it is a request stop. The fares are reasonable on that line and we used the train a lot.It does feel strange at first putting your hand out but we had no problems.
On Wednesday on the same route I left York on an EC service and we were put straight onto the slow and headed north at a very leisurely pace until a XC service, that should have been 10 minutes behind us,overtook and so arrived in Darlington first.I wasnt to happy about that as i was supposed to...
I have been out and about today with a 7 day north east rover ticket (starts today) but i have had to get assistance at each station with barriers as they would not accept my ticket. Is this normal for these tickets? I was in the right area, i should point out.
