Should tram networks, such as Blackpool Trams, use route numbering to differentiate service patterns?

At the moment no, but again you can get away with it as for the moment it's only 1 route.

Should tram networks, such as Blackpool Trams, use route numbering to differentiate service patterns?

I like the idea of having the routes separately coloured - a little bit like Sheffield. I could see that working. At the moment all trams run on route letters for example today I worked routes B and G. This idea does also work but as trams interwork to different destinations (eg route G I did...

The points and/or signals have failed to respond to the route selected in the cab by the driver - happens fairly often. Simply stop, report it and get permission to go out and change the points (hence why it was sat there for the amount of time it was). Usually starts working properly again...

Tuesday and Thursday Fleetwood Market and Wednesday Cleveleys Market could be accommodated by running the B fleet on specials up to these destinations on the relevant days

Yes I can see where you're coming from there. Like you say, most day trippers will be either around town on the Golden Mile or going down to South shore. A lot of day trippers do like to head north to Cleveleys or Fleetwood Market too, but if trams are only going as far as Bispham then that's no...

North Pier to Cabin is definitely the busiest stretch of track for hotel-goers. Between these stops you've got Claremont, Carlton, Imperial, the Grand, Savoy, Cliffs, Sheraton, Doric and Elgin hotels which all attract a lot of trade, but go beyond Cabin and you've still got the Norbreck...

This incident was yesterday, and it didn't really have much to do with the overheads (except they were an unfortunate part of the incident), but an errant tree branch got stuck in a tram pantograph and subsequently the tram lost its pan leaving Tower. 1656609870 Normally all drivers have 1...

Extremely unlikely as we are waiting for the hotel to be completed and building site gone before we can open North terminus to passengers. 1656355456 Ahh yes, tram 010. I have not a good history with that thing...

    Blackpool trams

Starting Monday 27th June, trams are being tested up Talbot Road to the new North terminus for up to a week between 1000 and 1500. They'll be running every 10 minutes, not in service obviously, and aren't expected to interfere with normal operations.

Yes, one for the bottom deck and doors and one for the top deck. If there's only 1 conductor available then the top deck is closed. There are a number of staff at Starr Gate who are still licensed to operate the heritage (including me soon!) and just need a refresher on them to be able to work...

We do have the option on our ticket machines to sell heritage tickets which are £18 adult and £9 child. I *think* these are effectively day tickets that can be used on the heritage tours plus the normal bus and tram network but I'm not too sure precisely on their validity, so will double check...

It's certainly one of the better ones to drive! Also the PPIs and TCLs at Talbot Square are now fully operational

003 has been in passenger a fair few times since January, albeit not exactly often. It was waiting for a part to be delivered so was on restricted duties until today. I don't know about Talbot Road because I've not been up it, but the Tram Controller Lights (TCLs) - the white LEDs - at Talbot...

Unfortunately we simply don't have enough drivers to do anything more than 12 minutes. The plan initially was hoped to be 7 minutely but we're about 10 drivers short of being able to do this. 1652186830 It'll probably be 11 trams to operate the service throughout the day out of 16 currently...

Tram 010 has gained some new vinyls to celebrate the queen's platinum jubilee - here it is in Starr Gate depot the day they were applied. We've also had it confirmed that the summer timetable (starting around 12th June) will see a 12 minute service throughout the day (not including additional...

    Class 319's into storage/withdrawals tracker

They're in the 'Railways of South Wales' group on Facebook, taken from onboard a ship entering or exiting the docks. I would share the images on here, but am reluctant to without the owners consent.

Seen pictures taken this morning of a Northern 319 being broken up at Sims Newport... Anyone happen to know which one this is?

Ahh right. I only started 2021 so didn't know that! I think the plan for this year is as I mentioned, every 7 minutes which requires 13 out of 16 trams. Until trams 004 & 018 return then we're gonna struggle otherwise, but I think the B fleet will be helping out on certain days - perhaps market...

Was that summer 2021? That was all they could manage with the staff or lack of. This year the 15 minutely Fleetwood is being supplemented by the 15 minutely Little Bisphams too, giving a tram every 7 minutes - not including any 'specials' running or the B fleet being out.
