It all depends on them. you will know after you pass your medical. HR will contact you and let you know.. it could be straight away, it could be a few months. I waited from November to January before I got the news. The fact that you’ve got this far means you have done well to get to this point...
Yeah it’s competency based. I didn’t do a group session on mine. Was just an interview with one person asking questions and another taking notes. They just ask you questions like.. can you tell me a time when you worked as part of a team to deliver excellent customer service? what do you...
About a week after my interview I found out if I was successful or not by email. You still need to pass a medical before they consider offering you the job.
I used a site called job test prep they have quite a few railway specific tests on there including the group bourdon test etc. You have to pay a subscription but it’s peanuts and if you’re serious about getting a job, definitely a good resource.

Been offered a position today starting in March. So pleased to get that call today, I’ve wanted this job so much, literally checking my emails every day for any news. Can’t believe it’s actually happening. Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting for a start date.
Northern have been in the news a lot lately. Can’t help but think am I going to have to re apply for The conductor job I’m waiting to start. Do you think the current regimes recruitment will be transferred over to the new owners??
All I would say to you is don’t pin your hopes on them course dates. When I was getting interviewed I asked the question how soon would I be starting and they said that there are courses starting in January so in my head I thought I would be starting in January. That wasn’t to be the case, I...
Take it that’s it now then all the candidates have been informed. Can’t see anyone else getting anything if you’ve not already heard. Well done to all those that made it through to the next stage.
I would apply I am in a talent pool for a conductor position with northern and I got told that the earliest date I could potentially start would be spring. It’s highly likely if you were successful you won’t be starting before then.
