Trivia: Which stations have numbered platforms which are unserved?

1 & 2 at Aberdeen aren’t numbered. You’re right about 7S though, can’t recall the last time I saw a service using it as a stop.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

Oh dear, what a mess. Hopefully there’s some recovery through the day and into the evening peak.

Edit - just realised this is in the international board and post related to domestic services! This can be deleted.

    First Aberdeen

Ouch is the word I’m looking for. There’s an element of “if you don’t use it you’ll lose it” but such savage cuts don’t attract folk to the buses in the first place.

Small stations that retained their freight sidings into the 70s-80s

Great photos! I’m designing a fictitious model layout based on the Keith layout so it’s good to see.

Small stations that retained their freight sidings into the 70s-80s

To add a couple, Keith retained a sizeable yard for the distillery which has now been largely rationalised to a track for the charter trains and another track adjacent to it, though I’m not sure of its use. The goods shed and loading platforms remain with the track otherwise lifted. Elgin has...

    Inspectors on Buses

In the 25 or so years I’ve been using Stagecoach in Aberdeen/shire I’ve only ever had one ticket check. It seemed to be more of a driver check similar to as mentioned above

Bus routes which have never quite taken off

Yeah, I must admit I wasn’t impressed with the 747 the first couple of times I used it when faced with a Mercedes Sprinter! There’s been slightly better stock since then but it’s still not ideal. It’s a shame the old 727 stock isn’t kicking around still, with a refurb they might have been...

Bus routes which have never quite taken off

In fairness to stagecoach, they had a service that was timed to meet the majority of trains. It just never caught the early trains or evening ones I seem to remember. There was a fair bit of money spent installing a bus circle to improve reliability etc. It did see usage but I think it became...

Expansions for Scotland's rail network proposed

It was completely pie in the sky. There’s no easy route to the airport with all the development, it could have possibly been achieved before the construction of the business park and the car hire centre but all that has eaten up any useful route. As for the exhibition centre, it’s not a far...

Free TV licence scrapped for (most) over 75-s

But why? My source of visual entertainment comes from my extensive DVD collection, various subscription streaming services, YouTube and a PS4 subscription. I haven’t watched live television in years except the odd sporting event in the pub for which the pub pays a licence and I help fund this...

Park and Ride Schemes in the UK

Aberdeen has a few sites. The X40 used to run between Bridge of Don and Kingswells as a dedicated services with specific P&R fares but these have long been done away with as has the X40 service. All sites are free parking and pay on the bus. Bridge of Don - served by First, service 1b on...

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

I think it would be good, would certainly help the 747/757 services in terms of passenger growth. It’s disheartening to see them so empty, I just hope there can be a good growth in numbers. As for the three quid return from Countesswells, a cracking deal, hopefully it will get passengers onto...

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

Interestingly from that timetable, it looks like they are offering a combined through ticket from Countesswells to Union Square. Something I’d like to see more of, for example I do Ellon to Westhill frequently by car and stay overnight which rules out using the zone 3 day ticket (which isn’t bad...

When was the last time you Visited the Cinema (and what did you watch)?

The last movie I saw was Lego Movie 2. I used to go two or three times a month to the cinema (I had one of those CineWorld unlimited passes) but I think there’s a distinct lack of imagination from Hollywood these days with lots movies being remakes or sequels, I lost interest. Cinema has also...

    Aberdeen to Edinburgh Routing Question

Hello, A quick fares question to see if a journey is possible. On Thursday, I plan to travel from Aberdeen to Edinburgh, ideally direct on the way there but on my return, I’m hoping to go via Stirling and Perth to make a couple of stops. I really plan to do this on the off peak. I’d hoped...
