    VTEC moving mk4 carriage labels

I prefer the eurostar way, where the train number is listed, instead of any times. Removes ambiguity.

Fire on board Hull Trains 1A93 10 May 2018

I particularly like that the firemen, in their helmets and protective clothing, are all standing well back. However, three guys in hi viz are fine getting up close. If it's the same unit as the one that had the earlier incident, anyone know if it's the same car?

TPE Nova 1 Class 802/2 Progress

It's stupid to set up a brand new factory on that sort of scale and leaving them to completely manage their own suppliers from the get go. Far better to start off with having partial responsibility, and hand over more and more responsibility as time progresses.

    Train Seat Guide

One thing to point out about the Fainsa seats, is that on some trains (700 at least), they have a cantilever construction out from the wall of the train, instead of being supported by a pillar underneath the inboard seat. Much better for legroom and cleaning.

    Why can HS2 go faster?

Power consumption is proportional to velocity cubed. The main resistance force on the train will be aerodynamic drag. There will be a bit of rolling resistance from the interaction between the wheels and the track, and the internal running gear (bearings, transmissions etc), which while not...

Which stations that aren't already planned do you think have a good case for reopening or opening?

Rushden could do with a station (especially now the lakes has opened), and with electrification they could extend some thameslink services up to wellingborough or maybe further - just to keep prices competitive. it costs way more to travel from Wellingborough to St Pancras than from Bedford.

Virgin Trains East Coast franchise to end 24 June 2018 and is temporarily re-nationalised

Still not sure why they gave Virgin/Stagecoach a monopoly on North/South Intercity. Still not sure why a lucrative package of services is handed in a package of a franchise - It would be better for travellers if operators on intercity had to bid for services as 100% open access. Then you could...
