I went to the NRM at York today. They are asking every visitor for a "voluntary" donation of £3.

Rest day's are only "moveable" when you are marked out to a weeks work from a week of "spare". You take the rest day of the weeks work. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- We have a week of RD's every fifth week. The 35 hours from that week are worked over the four weeks in between.

    New Virgin Qualified Driver Vacancies

London Allowance at Euston was stopped quite a few years back for new entrants to the grade and for existing drivers transferring to Euston from within or outside Virgin Trains. Think it was at DRI 2 or one of our subsequent pay deals.

Virgin Trains proposed Shrophire - Euston services

I've inquired and I was part wrong. There is NO flashing yellow sequence from the down fast to either platform one or platform two. The only flashing yellow sequence approaching Rugby on the down fast, and this is what I was mixing it up with, is from the down fast to down slow at Hillmorton...

Virgin Trains proposed Shrophire - Euston services

The only passenger use it sees is the odd diversion or special. Speed is 15mph end to end both ways and believe me you wouldn't want to go much faster.

Virgin Trains proposed Shrophire - Euston services

As you are probably aware the 'standard' does not allow for multiple routes from a flashing yellow sequence unless preliminary route indicators (PRI's) are used. Since the down fast approach to Rugby already has a PRI relevant to Rugby Trent Valley Junction the approach controlled signal...

Virgin Trains proposed Shrophire - Euston services

Pumbaa, your information is complete rubbish as usual ! Rugby down fast to platform 1 is 60mph. Rugby platform 1 to down Coventry is 75mph. Rugby down fast to down Coventry is 125mph EPS. 100mph PS.

    Virgin Qualified Train Drivers

You sound like a jealous wanna be ! We've around ten vacancies on VT at Wolves, and more finishing soon, if you're up to it

    DRS fleet update

The stand-by turns and dragging will still be done by Virgin drivers but using locos sourced from DRS much the same as when we used EWS 47's, 86's etc. Incidentally 57302 was a failure this morning for the Holyhead drag, it wouldn't start !

    OHLE issues at Watford

The train crew working 1F25 18.33 Euston - Liverpool (390052) reported the ADD had operated and the pan was not housed. Network Rail advised the OHLE was damaged and down on the fast lines. The train came to a halt in the tunnel on the down fast, passengers and crew were evacuated by walking...

    FGW HST Trailer 42507

I wander if that high density cattle truck seating is what they have in mind for the west coast !

First win Intercity West Coast franchise

But since Virgin didn't bid for either of those franchises it's irrelevant to this point.

    Voyagers engines at stations

Total and complete train spotter type rubbish ! The engine speed will stay at low idle (994 rpm) until the driver moves the master switch to direction, if the master switch is in direction with the doors enabled then the engines will stay at low idle, as soon as the doors are closed and...

    Overloaded Carriages

Vehicle loadings are represented in TMS by a constantly changing bar chart, if a vehicle reports that it is over loaded it advises the driver who then will then temporary isolate tilt, necessitating running at PS speeds, and advise the TM to re distribute passengers from the affected vehicle(s)...

Virgin - Frequency of internal trainee position?

There was a massive influx to the footplate grade in the mid 1970's, these guys are in their mid fifties now with most hoping to finish around age sixty. It was repeated again in the mid 1980's, i started in 1985, again with most of us hoping to finish around age sixty. At Wolves on VT...

Only things missing were a secondman and guard :)

Virgin - Frequency of internal trainee position?

You forgot to mention the difference is only about a grand and you sold your lives away to get it. No preps, PNBs on trains, check your trains for punters before going to CZ etc etc etc. You also forget that if it was still BR and with your time on the job you would still be plodding round the...
