    Inadequate Portsmouth to Bristol capacity

I'm a recent frequent traveller between Southampton and Bristol Temple Meads [BRI] on the 158 operated service . On one now; middle of the afternoon out of school holidays and it is rammed, not Corbyn style rammed, but genuine. The earlier one I took in the other direction was the 9.10 from...

Biggest steam locomotive ever used in the UK

I'd like to see some consistent modding about what is considered historical and therefore moved and what is not?

    Grade Separation?

Grade separation needs a plain English term. Highways England use the term to describe proposed new junctions at public exhibitions and it confuses many people. I think elevated junction or split level junction is easier to understand.

GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

What are the differences in standards between the 57/6s and DRS 57/3s? Is it likely that when the required work is done the two locos will be renumbered as 57/6s?

    Plenty of 67s hanging around.

Class 37 - How long can they really last

37s have a route availability of 5, 68s have RA7. So there are routes that a 37 can travel on that are not permissible for 68s or other mainline locos. One more reason why they are valued.

Would a peak and western cross paths?

Thanks Shaw. Good thing I was planning to have a carriage wash plant shed then! A bit of artistic licence is clearly required if the Peak shows up on occasion then... Might need to renumber it to a Bristol based one too! Edit: I have just discovered that D33 to D42 were located in...

Would a peak and western cross paths?

I've not been able to resist buying a Mainline Peak Class 45 in BR Green for a bargain £14.50 but the other stock I have been building up including Westerns and Warships in BR Green and Maroon are with a BR Western Region layout in mind, possibly a fictional loco and carriage shed depot beyond a...

My idea for Merseyrail Property boost.

Excellent ideas that can be rolled out beyond Merseyside in time. I favour a return of third class too to ensure that everybody can ride on a train to get to a job or to their holidays in Southport.

Future of the Class 60 locos at Toton?

CRT traps don't capture CO2 so no future for coal fired power stations without carbon capture and storage.

Why were locos territorial under BR compared to now?

Yet their depot was of course Eastleigh.

My idea for TfL to fine TOCs who operate diesel trains in the emissions zone

Additionally if you charged a passenger more for taking a diesel trip to London from a place like Sunderland you'll just encourage those travellers to fly to London from Newcastle thus generating higher emissions per journey.

My idea for TfL to fine TOCs who operate diesel trains in the emissions zone

What a load of nonsense. You can't penalise the passengers or the TOC for operating diesel trains into London when part of the entire route is not electrified and that is down to the government to resolve.

Could we buy more 66 and 70's?

You can see what is being used for electricity generation live at www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk As I write coal is supplying less than 3%, gas 43%, nuclear 26% and wind 13%. The rest is other renewables like biomass or imported electricity.

Keeping tabs on rolling stock before computerisation

Before TOPS or computerisation how did British Rail know where a carriage or wagon was at any particular time?
