Rail Advert reports that Grand Union have revised their application for Euston - Stirling service with Class 93s instead of 91s. An interesting move as although the 93 will be able to run away from the wires when needed (power failure, diversion etc.) it will surely be heavier than a 91 and thus...
Once EWR phase 1 opens there is a possibility that Southampton - Yorkshire / NE intermodals will run via EWR from Oxford to Bedford then up the MML (possibly via Corby).
DfT have announced the intention to direct award GoVia to continue operating Thameslink, Southern & Great Northern from April next year:

Wouldn't surprise me if the 153s are just an interim solution whilst they assess what will be available and cleared for the HoW in a few years time with a view to 'alternative' traction.
Though not seemingly affected by Thorpe Park, it's location is also around where any junction would be build as part of NPR to allow trains heading to / from Leeds to use HS2's Garforth by-pass. One suspects that if it has to be removed it would be donated to a preserved railway.
It should be remembered that XC didn't order the 170s they were a mixture of Central Trains and ex-Midland Mainline units. With the 2007 major re-jig of franchises which saw XC take on former Central Trains Cardiff / Birmingham - Nottingham and Birmingham - Leicester / Stansted services which...
The press release photos seems to suggest that the ex-GC sets will stay in GC colours, but given that they won't be used for another 18 months that should give them capacity and time to repaint all the MK4s to the same colour scheme.
Does Swansea - Manchester really mean that or do they mean...
According to the CAF Yaw Damper thread there is a temporary fix which should see units re-entering services in the next few days. This might allow some of the Southport substitutes to become 4 car if the Sprinters are no longer needed to replace OOU 195s.
The decisions made by the SoS are often only as good as the advice given. Grayling was being told that Castlefield Corridor work (especially extra platforms at Picc) were not needed as 'Digital Signaling' could deliver all the benefits at a fraction of the price (even though many in the industry...
I wonder if 'Smarter Way' = new line from Brum - East Midlands (either Parkway or Toton) then upgraded Erewash Valley Line to Sheffield before joining new line to Leeds / ECML as a phase 1 with the missing link build as a phase 2.
Thorpe Park is located between Crossgates and Garforth (next to the 'village' of Colton) there has been an office park there for many years but recently new housing and a shopping centre has sprung up, there is also new housing near by on the former Optare/Roe factory site and the former Royal...
Yes although most of those 'projects' have gone quiet. Some talk of the 350/2s having a battery bi-mode conversion when they go off lease but it is unclear if the range would allow for use on the Southport line.
