It's money-grabbing firms that are directly responsible for the replacements. If comprehensive laws were brought in to address the problem of immigrants replacing skilled workers for lower pay, then it wouldn't be such of an issue.
I don't think we should point the finger at immigrants...
Sorry for any confusion Bighat, I wasn't addressing you back there, I was addressing Frasier about the 'tighter policy' (Australian-style points system) idea he's batting about.
As for what you say, unlimited immigration but cutting off healthcare for immigrants would solve the problem of...
Actually I suppose you're right, to the media, money (selling papers) is more important than the truth. All I could do is attack the system itself by saying that the UK worships the Great God Profit as I'm one of these filthy idealists :happy7:
You've surely missed my point, I'm saying that if we put heavy limits on immigration the future workforce will be put under massive pressure. We are going to have too many OAPs for our future workforce to support, without the help of millions of migrant workers.

Some people claim disability benefits or tax credits for no reason at all, and they're native of this country! There's no way of screening for immigrants who might not work, and as you know, the current system is an absolute shambles. In addition, what effect does limiting the number of...
If the birth rate continues as it is set to, there will not be enough workforce to support the pensions of the pensioners. The rich-poor divide is increasing all the time, true, so increasing the minimum wage is a brilliant way of helping the people which poverty hits the hardest.
David Cameron stinks of the shift towards middle-party politics. I can't stand the green-washing the Conservatives have been engaging in either.
Increasing the minimum wage would bring lots of families out of poverty, and boost the standard of living for so many people.
The fact is that...
The idea's simple: I ask a music-related question, and the person who answers it then asks a music-related question of their own!
Question: Who originally wrote the song famously covered by UB40 named 'Red Red Wine'?
I don't recommend hitting back, unless you know what you're doing or the guy is a trumped up weakling. There are two routes you can go down when something like that happens, and the best is always to go crying to a teacher/parent, because that way the guy who hits you should get into more...
The guy was a loon, but I'd like to point out that the dirty bombs they're talking about couldn't actually cause harm by radiation, someone would have to stand in the vicinity of the blast of a standard bomb (assuming the radioactivity didn't decrease) for a year to suffer radiation poisoning...
I hate WMP, it makes my computer seize up for a few seconds every time I change tracks on it! I use WinAmp, it's just better. Doesn't hog memory like WMP, either.
This country is getting far too fat, and half of the world is going down this road with us. I think it's a problem that needs addressing, but not in that way it is in that article!

I'm an oldies man, at least that music has stood the test of time - I think that generally means it's good. I reckon that todays' indie scene is completely sour, and although rock and metal can be good in this year of 2006, most of the stuff that comes out is absolute garbage.
