why would it cheaper for a place which is further?

Just checked in NRE for trains from St Albans - Cardiff and St Albans - Bridgend on 4th July. I found one which is 20 pounds to Cardiff whereas only 18 pounds to Bridgend on the same train departs from Paddington at 13:45. Bridgend is next stop to Cardiff. I wonder if I only pay 18 pounds...

Does that mean I can pay 14.70 for the ticket starts from St Albans Abbey but use St Albans and FCC?

Also I just found out a problem that to work out this result, you must put Via Watford in the advanced option, othersie it still shows St Albans - St Pancras by FCC. I wonder if the tickets still look the same whether it is via Watford or not.

But my outbound trip is done by FCC, it's another problem.

The problem is , I bought my ticket at SAC station, not from LM site...

That's great, thank you. I think the argueing point is whether I had changed a train from Watford Junction which is outside of Zone 6 then my ticket wasn't valid thereafter.

Do I have to travel via Elstree from SAC to London ?

Yes, the main problem is that I didn't pay LM but took its train. I wonder what happen if I buy ticket from SAA to London travel card but travel from SAC on FCC? It seems it's fine as it is the option shown on LM and FCC or even National Rail websites.

Can I see SAA as my destination? SAC is also outside of Zone 6.
