Trivia: Stations where a platform has been built on the actual site of a ex running line (e.g. fom previous rationalisation/singling)

Yeah, that is interesting and helps to understand the platform numbering before the rebuilding. The image on this web page shows what the layout of the platforms was before the rebuilding which is helpfully taken after the train shed has been removed.

Trivia: Stations where a platform has been built on the actual site of a ex running line (e.g. fom previous rationalisation/singling)

I'd forgotten about the new bay platforms that were built between the two stations. I think you're right that the current platform 4 was added in the 60s rebuilding and possibly even 5 was added at the same time.

Trivia: Stations where a platform has been built on the actual site of a ex running line (e.g. fom previous rationalisation/singling)

The platforms at Crossflatts were built on the former goods lines, Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge are also partially built on land where the extra two tracks were. I think the high numbered platforms at Leeds were also built on the site of goods lines and sidings.
