    West Ealing, by Plassers.

    GWR Apprenticeship Scheme.

Best of luck, and I hope it all goes well for you, but... Don't assume that you will be successful when applying for the Apprenticeship - there is an awful lot of competition - and equally do not assume that the Apprenticeship will lead to a driving job, although it would be beneficial to your...

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

There has been some driver training and testing on AC there, but it'll be AC between Paddington and Taplow/Maidenhead only at start of public service.

    Window label templates and fonts

    GWR use Glypha.

    GWR wheelchair spaces

If it's coach E it could be that you'll be in the DPTF of a class 800. That's Driving Pantograph Trailer First. So you've got yourself a free upgrade as the only wheelchair accessible accommodation on a 5 car 800 is in first class.

    GWR Class 800

No, not at all. A significant chunk of the conversion is about Module AC, including running under the OLE, responding to ADD activations, loss of line light, coasting under the OLE etc. which is all learned and practiced on simulators. The practical handling for mainline drivers is all...

    GWR Class 800

    More comfortable I'd say.

    GWR Class 800

Not a lot of difference between first & standard in my experience. First impression is not good admittedly, but I find them ok. Others might feel differently of course.

    GWR Class 800

That was back in July when pan up was at maximum 20mph. There have been further tests this week at Taplow/Maidenhead (as this is where power changeover will take place - manually rather than automatic - for a while when the service starts), to see if there are any issues when raising the pan at...

    GWR Class 800

They don't look very comfortable, they don't feel very comfortable when you first sit down. But, having sat in them for quite some time on various test/training trains, they actually are quite comfortable in my opinion.

    Whistles at train stations

There has been a drive to boost performance at GWR recently which has included staff normally based in offices getting out and about on stations to assist with despatch by e.g., helping passengers on & off trains and shutting HST doors. It could have been that you saw maybe?

    GWR Class 800

They're not as visible as that. JamesGar's post upthread puts it well - you do need to be a bit of a contortionist to find them.

GWR Shortage of Traincrew Weekend and During Week

Essentially, yes. HSS do the HSTs, LTV do the units. Not quite as simple as that but almost. Now that nearly all Padd LTV drivers sign 387s, it'll help ease the pressure (less releases needed for training) on the LTV side, but just as HSS drivers need to be released for 800 training!

    Great Western Electrification Progress

I don't know whether the full blockade is going ahead or not, but there was certainly some uncertainty yesterday pm. Which, if that genuinely was the case, would make it a bit late to reschedule everything to run through Reading, no?

GWR Shortage of Traincrew Weekend and During Week

Very nearly all Padd LTV drivers now sign 387s. A small number are still to be trained.

    Bristol depot routes and traction

Soon? Already happening! 3 Bristol HSS drivers already sign 800s, should be up to 4 by the end of the week, with plenty more to follow.

Milton Keynes to South Croydon service

On the other hand, the changeover is done on the approach to a signal which is regularly at danger, so there's a SPAD risk due to distraction if the changeover fails and the driver is fiddling around with controls that, on a 377, require the driver to look up and to the left. In other words, not...

Milton Keynes to South Croydon service

Do you mean the traction changeover procedure from AC to DC and vice versa? It's done every time a 377 goes to Milton Keynes and again on the way back, and is the same regardless of whether it's done on the move (which is technically possible) or at a stand, so Link 1 Norwood drivers who work...
