Friday was obviously a good day. However, as a daily user, I notice that the GN inner service remains very unreliable due to train faults and the never-ending shortage of train crew. You cannot rely on this service.
I visited Newport in July. I drove to the docks to have a look at Sims, but they are situated in a secure area with gated entry and customs control etc. I couldn't find any vantage points to view the scrap yard.
Catch the City Line from Cardiff Central to Ninian Park for best views of that side of the depot by train. Not bad views from a Penath, Barry Island or Bridgend train; only need to go as far as Grangetown.
I've commuted under all those operators on this line and agree that they have all had periods of unreliability. Seems particularly bad over the last three years however. To get back on topic, the 717's are a worthy successor to the 313's with a pleasant environment.
32 services shown as cancelled already on Journey Check for tomorrow afternoon, Friday. This service will never improve or be reliable for as long as GTR run it.
Check out very helpful post #426. I had a few rides yesterday afternoon and the departure times from Moorgate are accurate. Different unit numbers, obviously!! Corresponding up workings can be worked out from Real Time Trains etc.
Been travelling on GN today looking for 313s, not many about at all. There have been long gaps in service during the day due to "lineside equipment failure", but I have only noticed three six-car sets working. May be more in the peaks. Anybody wanting a ride or take final photos had better be quick!
Travelled on 313059 this morning. Actually looked like it had been cleaned. The floors, walls and windows looked like they had been washed. First time I have travelled in a clean 313 for months. Perhaps GTR have realised that they have a responsibility to provide a half decent travelling...
