As mentioned elsewhere I'm trying to get in to GWR. The negatives outlined above from Greyhound are clearly a perspective from someone already experienced with the driver role but in my circs (aged 49, kids in their 20s both left home) there isn't great scope for inconveniencing anyone else...

Oops, not sure what's happening here. I've never really properly got to grips with loading images onto forums. When I posted originally it showed up. I'll have another go later, any tips on how to make it so everyone can see it? Presumably I need a photo hosting site which isn't Dropbox...
As an outsider I've got in my head that it would make for a more interesting day to be continually stopping as opposed to hardly ever stopping.

I'm not a driver (and may never be one) but if I were you I'd look on the GWR careers site and thoroughly ingest the skills required to be a driver and aim for a job role and/or life experiences towards them so you can provide the best evidence in any future application.
This was always a concern for me but throughout my process I always had a choice of dates to attend the different tests so always got away with rest days or times when I was on a late shift, I got lucky.
