I'm getting uncomfortable reading the disputes forum now - they are making me lose confidence in traveling with Advance tickets.

I think the point is no one here seems to have those statistics. The assertion that advance ticketing rules and the threat of prosecution are putting people off the railway in any great number is highly speculative.

Is there any evidence that this puts people off en mass? I can’t imagine it does, considering how rail travel boomed in the 90s, 00’s and 10’s despite most all of these same rules and worse being in place.

    When will excessive announcements cease?

Bashed? Rather extreme no I don’t like the “see it say it” slogan, but certainly the creation and promotion of the text number is very useful and in my view important. I’ve had BTP inform me of quite a few nasty situations transpiring on my train, that was quietly reported via 61016.

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

So did everyone on furlough, yet the government has yet to insist their terms and conditions be up ended. I think that fact that they have spent more on fighting the unions then on the pay deal it’s self speaks to how ideological this is.

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

This is important. Is definitely a massive reason I’m not in favour of the current deal.

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

The government already admitted that they have spent more money fighting the unions then the pay rises would have cost, so I think this is entirely more ideological fo the government than whether or they are able to afford it. This deal also does not match inflation, so would still see workers...

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

To be fair, on the TOC side the strike action has really moved the goal posts quite a bit.

Network Rail makes new offer to the RMT union

Hmm I do wonder about this. Speaking from the TOC side of things, they have definitely improved the offer and have certainly taking out some of the most terrible things they wanted to do. Perhaps there can be a bit more movement. I know for me, a little bit more movement could make the deal...

    When will excessive announcements cease?

To be fair if the announcement repeated 4 times upon departure from KGX before you reached the first stop, most likely the PIS is faulty. Usually it’s the departure announcement and the 6106 one. I do hate the slogan, but the advertising of the text number is a good thing in my humble opinion...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

Some teachers don’t go above and beyond at all, and are poor at their job. You can’t speak in sweeping statements about whole groups of workers. When you say “and yet teachers would simply get on with such changes” it makes it seem like you’ve got a personal issue with rail workers, the vast...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

Again somewhat off topic, as the pay rise being offered does not match inflation, but I think it’s right that people don’t just expect to get poorer year after year. Your view seems to be that people should be happy sliding into poverty. It’s rather a bleak prospect. Not only that but a large...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

To be honest I’ve not heard a single positive thing about it both at my depot and others.

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

I don’t want to get too off topic, but wage increases have not been the cause of inflation, that has been caused by a combination of energy costs soaring along with corporate profiteering. As inflation is outstripping wage growth at the moment, Labour is becoming cheaper not more expensive...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

With respect, staff don’t want their weekends taken from them at a whim, and to see their work life balance trashed. I don’t really care about the UK’s “reputation”, whatever that means. Spending time with my family on my weekends off is rather higher a priority. Also, what wage price spiral...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

Shocking stuff. Would really put a torch to our work life balance.

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

If they propose that they can move RDs like that then I would definitely have to vote against. The idea that they can just take your weekends off away from you is mad.

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

Where does it give the salaries? Read both documents but couldnt see that. Would be very poor wages indeed given I started out on gate line with a salary of more than 20k and that was nearly 14 years ago.

Would there be potential for a legal challenge on accessibility in DOO areas?

Just as a point, level boarding doesn’t do much to help the visually impaired, who also regularly require staff assistance boarding and disembarking trains.

RMT Extends Strike Action on Network Rail to Dec 24-27

I have to say my experience says your wrong on this. It’s generally much easier for a guard on a train to get passengers to pay up, and the person can’t run, and has the threat of being removed from the train. Once the fare dodger gets to the station they will just tail gate or push through the...
