East-West Rail (EWR): Consultation updates [not speculation]

Siding/yard off the WAML at Duxford

The fertiliser works were pre 1930’s I believe as I was told by the son of Dr Norman De Bruyne that he chose the site as it had a rail link. He invented the Araldite and it was manufactured here.

Wisbech-March line reopening cost increase to £200m

Having driven several times from Wisbech to March i don’t see the point in reopening the railway. As the traffic is just not there. Also the rail line is very bendy. If a different route was taken it would make more sense and might be a lot cheaper.

    Cambridge South new station opening

There is not much in any of these choices but the northern one connects better. The Addenbrookes curtesy bus should pick up from the new station to cover outpatients etc. But will driverless pods be used? They use the bus parkway as a testing track from Addenbrookes to Trumpington park and ride...

    Election 2019 - promises

All I can see with labours rail and bus policy is the strange situation that the a lot of extra taxes on the rich will be given back to the rich (VED can’t fund it all). The reduction in commuters fares will in a lot of cases benefit the better off. If there children go to a private school by...

    Election 2019 - promises

My main problem with election promises regard rail is the following. You can promise as many improvements as you like but can you deliver them. On budget and without delay. The answer is no as if you try and spend too fast and not have the capacity it will end up being delayed and costing a lot...
