there is a program called Route Riter that can help you do this. There is a feature that allows you to turn an engine into a wagon but leaves the same appearance allowing you to haul it dead in transit or just have it loose in a siding. Its available to download free from www.uktrainsim.com...

the main tip for using MSTS with Vista is to run it as the administrator to avoid any issues. UKTrainSim website has a forum dedicated to running MSTS with Vista :wink:

surprised to here of problems from UKTrainSim, did you post or search on the forums about the messages you were receiving? I have been using that site for about 3 years now without issue, cant imagine how much I have downloaded from there!

best joining scot-rail.co.uk and you will be able to see times there. At the moment they seem to run Thursdays but this can chop and change. I tend to spot the ones from Hunterston which so far this year have run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays!

probably the East Coast Express route or West Coast Mainline. There is a route on UKTrainsim called Thames Mersey which covers the WCML, its a huge route with millions of stock and over 100 activities and the cd only costs £4.50, excellent value.
