Trivia: Most number of liveries in the same train

When WMT had 153s on hire from EMR I'm sure I had a 172 in WMR livery, a 153 in LM livery, and a 153 in EMT livery!

How will the rail companies entice passengers back after this is all over?

They will not need to - it is already worrying what will happen if everyone goes back to work and starts using the trains again immediately - how do you carry out social distancing on trains that are normally packed? And this isn't exclusive to commuting - Saturday and Sunday can be just as...

Super trivial: Nearest shop you haven't been in

There are two pubs within a minute's walk of my house that I've never been to - other than that a "white goods" appliances store - all the appliances I need I've bought online or were already fitted when I moved in

    Trivia: Railway stations with thoroughfare

More people seem to use the length of the platform at Fenny Stratford as a thoroughfare than actual travel - which is definitely true these days!

My suggestion to use carnet style ticketing to soften commuter demand on West Coast Mainline

A carnet already exists for the southern WCML, no? Part of the WMT franchise.

WCML current Peak and Off Peak capacity

I think you are both making valid, but different, points. It is true that off-peak there are many good deals to be had. Yet, at peak time, nobody is on the trains as they are so expensive. This means quite a few peak-time trains are busier than those off-peak!

How effective are the daily COVID-19 Press Conferences?

Exactly, hence the quotes. The current setup is not working evidently. Yes, we do need to be able to hold people accountable to their actions, but is that briefing the correct place and time for it?

How effective are the daily COVID-19 Press Conferences?

The "scrutiny" by the journalists should happen behind closed doors - the public should be getting clear messages not a conference then a lot of irrelevant questions answered poorly. It just isn't working, I used to try and watch every day but why bother. What does the average member of the...

How effective are the daily COVID-19 Press Conferences?

Agreed, a daily update has seemed less and less relevant as the situation has stabilised.

    Overground trains on the WCML?

315 (and 317s) are being stored just outside Northampton in warm storage, and are frequently taken on short runs up and down from Northampton to Bletchley etc to keep them in working orders. 323s will be going to and from Wolverton for refurbishment at Wolverton Works. No need for a loco if...

3 Spies Junction? Coventry - Nuneaton Line

People Who Take Ages At The Supermarket

Another place on the internet where everyone thinks they know better than everyone else. Yes let's make fun of someone for reading the labels on the products they're buying. I suppose when I had to find the right packet mix for a casserole the last time I shopped in Tesco I would have been...

And as previously posted in the thread, CrossCountry from Stansted to Birmingham.

Trivia: Stations that have direct service to London but few people wishing to travel there

I stayed in a caravan park just round the corner from there actually, and used the station to travel to London! That's... one... one passenger... :D

The abhorrent Text to Speech system - making the traveling experience worse?

I heard somewhere that the Greater Anglia screens (and the WMT ones, as they will, one day, use the same system) use Amazon's text-to-speech, or at least will/should do...

    Caledonian Sleeper - Bargain Berths?

So have I. I've even booked on the same day. But waiting till 10pm on the evening to rock up at Euston and only then know if you're actually going?

    Caledonian Sleeper - Bargain Berths?

Who would actually book one with less than 2 hours to go? Normally you don't book a sleeper as an impulse decision, it would be part of a plan for a business trip/holiday etc. So you will go "ok I'll sit on the concourse at Euston at 10pm at night, or at Corrour at 6pm on a winter's evening...
