For comparison, I travelled on the VSOE last year and found their toilets to be very civilised. Highly recommended!!

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Out of curiosity only, who pays for the removal? Does it depend on whether the unit has been accepted by SWR or is still awaiting acceptance? Sorry if this is not written very clear but I could not think of a way to express it better! Ed Chap

    Possible disruption 19th September?

Will all this disruption and the accompanying bad publicity be the point at which Network Rail decide to upgrade the OLE in this area to try and improve reliability and repair bad publicity?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Interesting that whilst I was watching TikTok yesterday (I know, I should have been doing something more useful) a short video, from South West Railway, appeared of a Class 701 unit (701048) and the caption read "All you 'Rail Fans' better be excited because we are releasing the 701 this summer...

'The Devon Pullman' Railtour Timings (50007+50049)

I was told that the reason for the 2 Class 67's being used was that they both needed refuelling before the strikes next week. The single Class 50 managed very well.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Out of pure curiosity, would it be possible for SWR to use the same drivers that are testing the units for passenger service?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Perhaps 701025 is the only working unit! Perhaps they are trying to get one unit accepted by the end of the year to tell everybody how well they are doing!!

    Storm Dennis disruption 15th & 16th

The Dolgarrog Railway suffered yet more flooding last weekend. I just hope it does not get worse this weekend.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

In all this criticism of the Class 701, which nobody has travelled on yet, surely one of the biggest improvements is having a toilet on each train. This will make life much easier for many travellers.

Who would you like to make train passenger announcements?

Obviously the best person for the job is Chris Grayling. He can start each announcement with "Thanks to me you have enjoyed this wonderful journey and now we are arriving at x on time"
