Was once offered Portsmouth Harbour --> Derby, via Bristol TM with NRE itinerary. Was sorely tempted as the advance offered was much cheaper than the single change at Winchester I went for.

NRE shows a restriction code: DS My bold. Now, the key question is, what is the contractual definition of "Train Operator", is it Southern, or Govia as a whole? I would say train operator is analogous to TOC, ergo, it would be Govia, who operate multiple franchises. Enforceable?

I would guess, and am happy to be corrected, that it's due in part to layout of the station, and possibly being some distance from the underground entrance to the platform. For those people who may not be used to London, it can take a minute to orientate yourself.

Just a theory, having worked in Stock Control for a large supermarket, and seeing the types of information a modern till system can provide, and how that ties into replenishment. Bit different to RailGourmet, and no doubt their margins are tighter.

I would assume it's based on sales history and algorithms. Example: 6 weeks prior, 1.4 chicken sandwiches, 0.3 cheese sandwiches sold on average on the service; 1 chicken sandwich stocked only, figures being rounded down etc. I guess it's "we'd rather miss a sale, than have wastage"
