I recorded this and watched it on catch up, and they conveniantly stopped anwering written questions at #16 'What steps he is taking to improve railway infrastructure.' before moving on to topical questions, all of which seemed to all be about ticket office closures
oh, i know that the level floor is an issue for metro stock, i only picked the 745 for my example since its fully electric and coach lengths are within the range of the 20m set out in the tender
In regards to who should build the new stock, i was thinking, why not some variant of the 745 in fixed formations of 4 and 6 cars. So formations could be made up of;
4 Cars
6 Cars
8 Cars 4 + 4
10 Cars 6 + 4
12 Cars 6 + 6
Now, while im no expert in the logistics of how realistic this actually...
Saw a Class 69 tailing a train today, heading coast bound through Chatham but didn't catch the number since i saw it as it rounded the corner. If it helps, i caught it going through at about 10:16
there were plans for this, it was called Nightstar. It got scrapped because budget Airlines started to take off (pun very much intended) around the same time
Kind of off topic but while messing around on google earth, i found a 707 in one of the sidings at the Hitachi depot in Ashford
edit:
found a second one nearby
