Swindon to Windsor & Eton Central

I was thinking of the departure route... I came in on platform 5 (old design), then left to West Drayton on platform 3.

Swindon to Windsor & Eton Central

Thinking about one journey I made which involved doubling-back (or the TRAIN went back on itself) and that was Exeter St Davids to West Drayton - saver return. OK - it was a long time ago... is this no longer allowed? Even though all I did was change at Reading as instructed?

reading to Seaford - equivalent to the old Saver return

I was meaning generally - I know this is one of the easier ones.

reading to Seaford - equivalent to the old Saver return

I can understand about rush-hour - 1600-1915 - as those were the old BR terms. But everything seems to Byzantine now... Are TOCs trying to get people to throw their hands up and buy Open tickets for everything?

reading to Seaford - equivalent to the old Saver return

WHAT?! Why are they barring ANY PERMITTED from HSTs now? Surely if I'm travelling back via Paddington I should be able to get on ANY BLOODY TRAIN with a Saver/Offpeak/what-bloody-ever outside rush-hour. Especially if after 7pm... At least that's what it used to be...

reading to Seaford - equivalent to the old Saver return

Nope - my days of travelling with a Young Person's Railcard have long gone.

reading to Seaford - equivalent to the old Saver return

Hi folks, Historically, I always bought Saver Returns when going down to my grandparents in Seaford... my usual route was Reading - Gatwick, change Gatwick - Brighton, change Brighton - Seaford. Coming back, I'd go Seaford - Lewes Lewes - Gatwick Gatwick- reading. I'd...

Advance tickets, I dont understand them.

Umm - so I understand, are "Advance" tickets the ones that used to be called Apex?

Free first class upgrade... or not

Umm - so standard to first class upgrades don't stand for the whole journey? That's hardly fair on the passenger.... if I was travelling on that route - would I have to pay twice, just because I was going into another region?

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

Funnily enough - that's precisely how the IATA airlines deal with it. If you're connecting flight screws up, the first airline has to sort it all out.

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

BUt why couldn't the TOC-specific fares be excessed? Or at least only pro-rata the amended portion? Especially if a passenger is en-route and on their 3rd or 4th change? How is a casual customer to know? And WHY should they know... especially if there are massive delays due to something out...

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

And isn't that what happens with TFL? And what happens with Freedom-type tickets in some areas with buses? Until they have a spat as happened with Reading Buses and another company recently? And more often with IATA airlines - where different companies are codesharing? All I can argue from...

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

But aren't they the ones which catch the passenger out most frequently? Headline fare advertised but with a shedload of restrictions that aren't all that clear to the end-user? Historically with AIRLINES - the customer would go to a travel agent and they'd sort everything... with rail, we...

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

That was kind of what i meant. The innovation and customer benefits still come about - with different discounts etc... but as far as the basic servicing side goes, have the physical ticket office points of sale themselves run as a rail equivalent of "post Office Counters Ltd". Effectively...

Wouldn't it be easier for customers if NatRail Counters was formed?

Hi folks, Thinking how the Post Office works, now that it's been split into several different functional bodies - but there is still a Post Office entity that customer contracts are with... Wouldn't it be easier if the rail industry did the same? Cos then it wouldn't matter how the...

Charged a Penalty Fare by FCC for using a Greater Anglia Only ticket

I suppose I always bought from a ticket office - unless I was requesting a Travelcard via work for a course or event. Either that or a Rail Appointed Travel Agent - so I left it to them to sort it.

Charged a Penalty Fare by FCC for using a Greater Anglia Only ticket

It's been a long time since I travelled on the railways - but even when it was split, it was still BR-esque in that the terms I remember were.. Open single/return - the expensive ones Saver - can't travel to/from London in rush hour, and only after certain times (typically 0930 or 1000)...

Charged a Penalty Fare by FCC for using a Greater Anglia Only ticket

What ever happened to any-to-any all-service tickets? Can I still buy a saver Return to somewhere, valid on any and all services - so I can just jump on any train? WTF happened?
