    FGW complaint query.

Wel it appears to be 2 carriages on most services, and if saturday is anything to go by, we left about 20 people on the platform at Romsey and abot 200 at Southampton.

    Livery lists for LM,XC,EM,NX

Yes, SWT were fairly quick to rebrand with the orange stripe and the name. But it is slightly different there, they were taking over the brand of the former public sector company, not that of a rival. I think you will find that once the refurb programme gets going it won't take long to notice...

    Emt Hst

I know this might sound stupid, but if SWT is anything to go by, Stagecoach's way of dealing with things is to get lots of older stock, and spend money bringing it up to standard. The Desiros were needed to make up for the loss of slam door trains that had to go. If their work on the 158/9's...

    "First,Last and Worst Group"

No Wessex and Thames Trains were seperate, but won later and absorbed into the Greater Western Franchise. As someone who lived in Exeter for three years up until when First took over, the difference between First and Wessex seems to be units. In Wessex's case if a unit failed or a unit was...

    Hull Trains - The Latest

Leave them unused for a few months and the price will drop. Look at the Juniper fleet at SWT. Seemed to be a very shrewed game played there. Maybe the 442's could come back if they drop the price enough.... (Always good to get around the Dft when you want stock)

    Grand Central HSTs?

22:45 ONE Life The Train You've Been Waiting For Ian Yeowart and Sean English want to do something no one has done for a hundred years - start a new railway company from scratch. Grand Central is its name and Marilyn Monroe its inspiration. Filmed over a year, we see Sean and Ian's...

FGW transforming travel for the worse

Don't worry, as rediculous as it sounds, if they make it any worse it doesn't matter. As from the new timetable if that is right, it is quicker to go from waterloo and change in Exeter!! Wouldn't be suprised if SWT were tempted to run a portion to Plymouth.

Exeter St Davids and Plymouth ticket barriers

Does that mean you can wonder into any government office and take photos. That's not me arguing againts people who take pictures, but at the end of the day, you are guests, and it is a privalage that you should be able to use the platforms for that.

    Thameslink and Crossrail and Franchisees

Govia were not excluded from bidding but did not make it past the pre qualification part of the bidding process. Can't remember why, but I seem to remember it being something they didnt get right in the initial bid document.

    Desiro Written off

Because they were offered the Junipers for less than they were paying for the Wessies. They took the 458's back and let the 442's go. Saves money that can be given back to the shareholders, used to keep prices down and spend on 158's/159's to up capacity. You might not like the loss of the...

They had plants in the centre of Andover station (between the tracks). Don't think they ever got wattered though for obvious reasons and didn't live for very long.

    Basingstoke

Yes, chiltern have a different kind of franchise. When the Dft were talking of longer franchises, SWT talked of putting up the cash for the dualing of the whole line. I think a similar thing actually happened at Chiltern, the Dft changed their mind on the West of England line. That could really...
