Merseyrail to ban smoking on station property (except car parks)

I've read in the Daily Telegraph over a number of years that some Council bye-laws are illegal. I forget which Councils and bye-laws they were.

Merseyrail to ban smoking on station property (except car parks)

The above is typical British way of thinking, telling lies by officials acting big in front of others. I reckon anyone caught smoking should report it to the European Courts, while we are still in EU, as I'm sure the original ruling on 2007 covered just smoking under a roof with at least one...

Merseyrail to ban smoking on station property (except car parks)

Is this Merseyrail itself or Merseytravel area. What about stations on the City Line, not exactly Merseyrail Electrics as its mainly Northern that run trains.

    Oldest railway stations

How do you mean Edge Hill is the oldest but isn't used. It is still open and I use it most days.

HS2 Northern ‘Forks’ - Implications for XC?

There was an article in the Daily Telegraph recently where a Government minister, I think, also quoted that HS2 won't go beyond Birmingham.

Why are Northern allowed to cancel Sunday Services seemingly at will?

Lets face it, Northern are up north. That's why they can get away with it as London based DFT couldn't give a toss. If it was down south they would be in all the national daily papers every day and the DFT would soon sort them out. My opinion.

Merseyside day ticket options (including Merseyrail & ferry)

As far as I am aware, the All Areas Saveaway , price £5:40, will get you all over Merseyside on trains, buses and ferries in off peak times - peak time being 06:30 until 09:30, no evening peak time. You can also go to Chester with that card, plus Ormskirk and Ellesmere Port as those three...

    Merseyrail to Liverpool Airport

What I should have also mentioned is that since the year 2000, i have not gone long haul. These days I tend to cruise round the Mediterranean Sea, or the Canary Islands, for a week or two flying to the several ports around there, quite easily reached from either Manchester or Liverpool. As the...

    Merseyrail to Liverpool Airport

Its a 45 minute trip along the motorways from Liverpool to Manchester airport. I'm not convinced HS2 will go beyond Birmingham. Plus, as I have said, I can go anywhere I want to from Manchester or Liverpool. There is absolutely no need for me to fly from down south.

    Merseyrail to Liverpool Airport

Too right, as above you can fly anywhere from Manchester, not so much Liverpool, but the difference in hours getting to the likes of Heathrow far outweighs the cost of flying from Manchester, it only takes less than half an hour before flying over London from Manchester, or Liverpool.

    Merseyrail to Liverpool Airport

Well I won't be flying from Heathrow or any other southern airport, having been to practically all over the world from Manchester or Liverpool there is no need, and I'm sure I'm not the only northerner who won't travel down south to fly.

    Merseyrail to Liverpool Airport

I've been saying that for years, even when the Merseytram seemed likely, why go to Kirkby with a train every 15 minutes, during the day, why not go to the airport instead. Probably a lot of councillors lived along the route to Kirkby at the time.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Didn't Chris Grayling state a few weeks ago that HS2 won't go past Birmingham.

Idea for Liverpool Trams to be back up and running.

I read somewhere that Merseytravel still have the tracks they bought stored somewhere. Yes, I recall all that nonsense, and wanting the trams to run from Liverpool to Kirkby in my mind was nonsense when you have a train that goes there every 15 minutes during the day. A better idea would have...

OAP Bus Pass Where can you use it on the railway?

You can use it on any train within Merseyside, but only a Merseytravel issued pass. Can go as far as Ormskirk, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Southport, New Brighton, West Kirby, Kirkby, Hunts Cross and of course Liverpool. Oh, and it can be used on the river ferries as well.

get my oap bus pass next year use on tfl from redhill surrey

On Merseyside you can use the oap travel pass on buses, trains and ferries. Trains and Ferry can only be Merseytravel issued cards. These cards are issued from 60 years of age for both sexes. The English bus pass part will be sent automatically to you when you reach the required age...

What are people from Liverpool called

I have never heard anyone refer to themselves as a Liverpolitan or a Whacker. Agreed, and I've been here 72 years.

Luxury cars crushed as transporter hits low bridge in Perth (24/10)

Nearly all UK fleets are third party only. Funnily enough most people when they hear TP only think Fire and Theft as well. That is not the case with fleets, it is third party only.

Leaked HS2 report claims scheme ‘fundamentally flawed’ - FT

I'm still positive its going to end at Birmingham Curzon Street. They will suddenly find out they are out of money, so the extensions further north will have to go on the back burner. Then typical government they will forget all about it, after all it would have achieved its first priority in...
