As someone who has no choice in using the 345s between Burnham & Paddington, I’d agree they should not be used past Reading. 387s are more than suitable for the Didcot - Paddington services. Whilst the 387s have their flaws, they are a significant upgrade from the 345s.
Think it hit 32c in Slough yesterday, my office was very cool but when I walked over to the main hospital building I felt the strength of the sun! Didn’t cool down much last night either, still about 21c at night which lead to an uncomfortable nights sleep
We have dropped the mandate too at our hospital apart from the same requirements as you mention on certain wards so assume it is was an update to NHS England guidance. Have to say I am absolutely ecstatic not to have to wear the damn things anymore!
Great thanks for the advise. I always find the Circle line between Paddington & Victoria cramped and then the Southern trains are almost usually packed heading towards the South. Have used Thameslink before to Gatwick and it always seems quieter at Farringdon so fingers crossed this route will...
How is the interchange at Farringdon between Thameslink & the Elizabeth line? I’m flying from Gatwick in July so was looking at Paddington - Farringdon - Gatwick.
Interesting to see everyone’s views on the Elizabeth line. Have seen a few videos on YouTube and it does look like a very nice line, stations, space and cleanliness etc. What is the speed of trains on the core section as it seemed very fast!
So we are still expecting the Didcot services to call at Hayes & Ealing as now then? That’s good as all stations TFL services from Slough to London is about 30 mins or so
ATS have released a patch for the 700, which makes it so much better to drive. Still a shame that DTG release their products in such an unfinished state as the model is really good, just the sounds let it down.
They are a darn sight more comfortable than the GWR 387s which are meant for longer journeys too. Before COVID, I would regularly use TFL between Paddington and Slough to avoid them!
The 0005 Paddington to Reading has completely missed its advertised stops at Burnham & Taplow leaving customers having to arrange taxis themselves to get home. Hopefully GWR identify what has happened but hardly a great start to the new timetable!
I don't think GWR's wifi is too bad. On the 387's it is fine however slightly annoying that you have to log in all the time - pretty sure that when the turbos first had it installed, it remembered your email and logged you straight in. Haven't really used it much on the 800/802's to comment.
Just out of interest and this may not be the right forum to ask so moderators feel free to move as best, is the 1718 Paddington to Oxford going over to 800 operation or staying as 165/166?
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
