    Disused railways and what remains

I am into disused railways and what I find fascinating is what remains ie TP huts, bridges, tunnels, platforms etc etc. My main love is the Somerset and Dorset and there is quite a bit remains including Templecombe engine shed now in Industrial use. What disused railways have you walked and what...

    Best EMUs

What are your favourite EMUs either modern or older EMUs? For me growing up in Eastleigh Ido have a soft spot for the 442s but my absolute favourite has to be the 4 REP a 3200hp slammer hauling a 4 or 8 TC unpowered units. They shifted when on there own too.

I worked at Stagecoach at Chichester when Sussex Bus was taken over. I seem to recall three willowbrook bodied Leyland Leopards one or two Iveco minibuses two Omni's and two Leyland Nationals. 1990s- all stations beyond Woking

Iirc the only stop the stopping service did stop after Woking was Southampton Airport I seem to recall only the semi fast calling there. The first stop the fast Weymouth did from Waterloo was Southampton Central I think.

Trivia: Stations on electrified lines that are only served by diesel trains

The 158s replaced the two slammers iirc so the lack of 450s was never a problem before. Perhaps that's the reason the two slammers lasted so long?

    Eastleigh works

The carriage works is now Barton Park industrial estate with many of the buildings remaining. Quite a bit of it was used by Hants & Dorset bus company as its works back when buses like trains received heavy overhauls. It was also the bus depot for Hants & Dotset Eastleigh based operations a duty...

    Eastleigh works

Cheers. Other Emus I'm guessing 413/414/415/416. Also the old W&C underground units plus the current I. O. W units. Im not sure about the old VEC and TIS units but I think I read somewhere they did at some stage. 1605541305 Some of the VEC TIS units were broken up the around 2012. It's a shame...

    Eastleigh works

When I was a nipper Eastleigh works used to do work on classes 08/09/33/73 and Southern region units and some units from other regions. How things have changed in recent years I was wondering how many different classes of locomotives and units have had work done there in the works itself...

Trivia: Stations on electrified lines that are only served by diesel trains

I thought it was because they did not have enough 450s during the week which was why 158s only ran Mon-Fri.

Although 86101 is the first ever 86 to Visit Eastleigh 87002 is not the first 87. That honour fell to 87013 in September 1992 on its way to Bournemouth open day if anyone is interested?

Clapham crash 30 years ago today

Today 12/12/18 is the 30th anniversary of the Clapham disaster. It's hard to believe it was 30 years ago I was a young 16 year old at the time but remember it like it was yesterday.
