    Lights on bus console?

It's called RIBAS (or similar) The 5 lights are for Over-Revving the engine Idling too long Harsh Braking Harsh Accelerating (eg. jabbing the throttle) Over-speeding And the basic jist of it is like the previous poster said, eco-friendly and safe driving.

The Tyne Ferry Between South and North Shields

I do agree about the signage to the ferry on the South Side, there are signs all the way to the ferry, but you really have to look! Regarding the bus though, the service that connects to the ferry leaving North Shields goes straight to the ferry terminal, and takes 2-3 minutes. You must have...

    What irritates you?

I put this question to the people from the Tyne and Wear, or that know the area, or in fact, anyone that wants to have a go. Redheugh Bridge... How do you pronounce it? "Red-juff Bridge", "Red-hew Bridge", or "Red-Hewf Bridge"? I pronounce it "Red-juff" / "rejuff bridge like".

    Grand Central Discussion

Was very impressed with how many people got on the 12:30 yesterday in Sunderland, sharp contrast from when I saw the same service a few months ago! It's good to see less GC caused delays as well. Dan

    ECML Problems today

ROUTE UPDATE: Both areas are now clear, and trains are running to all destinations, subject to big residual delays and cancellations due to trains being in the wrbut ong place, etc. Passengers are advised to get the first available service, as ticket restrictions have been lifted, and...

    ECML Problems today

What a difference 70-80 miles makes! It's really not bad in Newcastle. It's actually brightening up a bit now! And it's still supposed to be summer! Dan

    ECML Problems today

Grand Central have also been caught up in it all, as you can imagine. The 14:50 arrival at Sunderland from KGX is not expected until 17:01, which will royally bugger up the 17:30 southbound departure, as the train has to go to Heaton and back for fuel, doesn't it? The live departure boards...

    ECML Problems today

Tough one, but the amount of trains that are being cancelled, I'd strongly advise considering EMT to Sheffield. On a different note, I found: 11:00 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central due 16:27 Details: This train is now running and is now 220 minutes late. This is due to earlier overhead...

    ECML Problems today

Pretty good guess, a tree on fire is what they were told at KGX. May have fallen onto the wires? Whatever it was, the first train on the scene, a KGX to Leeds service, was delayed by 3 hours and 9 minutes, and trains are being backed up, it seems. Dan

    ECML Problems today

Just beat me to it. :D Got a message from my auntie coming back up from Kings Cross, apparently it's absolute chaos at Kings Cross, it seems National Express aren't sure themselves what to do! She's on a train now, but I advised her not to be expecting rainy Newcastle anytime soon! :lol...

    Possible strike action on NXEA

They aren't striking AT ALL? I see where the confusion was now, sorry! Dan --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Oh, just seen their website, indeed, all EMT strikes are cancelled. Not too worried about the NXEA strike on the 13th, the X1 will suffice if it goes ahead. Dan

    Possible strike action on NXEA

I think I've explained it wrong, but I know about the Lowestoft to Peterborough bus from when I used to live in Great Yarmouth, and thats the one I plan to get back to Norwich, if NXEA still carry out their strike on the 13th. It is the way to Great Yarmouth on the 10th, when EMT are...

    Possible strike action on NXEA

Indeed, mine and the girlfriends holiday will be severely disrupted if all the strikes go ahead. We travel via NXEC, EMT and NXEA to Great Yarmouth, on the 10th, come back on the 13th. NXEA strikes on the way back, but that doesn't worry me too much, as Great Yarmouth to Norwich is bus-able...

    which is best MK1,MK2,MK3,OR,MK4?

I never travelled on the Mk1 and Mk2, but out of the other 2, I prefer the Mk3s. I like the slam doors, the slide down windows and the overall character of the interior, being a 'proper' train. Old, loud loco, with a carriage with windows that work themselves down, so your ears pop when a...

    NXEC Advance Bookings

Hi all, Just a little update, I suppose, to put this thread to bed. The tickets I wanted came online today. The times were alright (arrive GYM 10/08 21:17, depart 13/08 12:17, but since its a 3 night stay, the times didnt bother me that much anyways. At least it allows breakfast on the...

    NXEC Advance Bookings

Well Ive had a look at Newcastle to Norwich, and it seems all, except 1 of the trains on the return leg, have sold out at the AP fares. Considering theres still 1 full journey to Great Yarmouth in each direction on w/c 3/8, I find that quite hard to believe. I mean, theres still some AP fares...

    NXEC Advance Bookings

Well they sent the notification email this morning, and updated their website with booking up til 16th August, but the AP fares arent up yet, so it's just a waiting game from here I suppose! It's quite important, cause the fare DOUBLES if I dont get the cheapest ones, from £16 per person...
