Northern Unit Refurbishments and depot allocations.

That’s good, I’ve always found it out that they only have the 1 plug per 2 seats, hopefully they won’t be retrofitted but incorporated into where the current plug ports are

Trivia: Rolling stock that looks/feels ahead of its time

The 333s have always looked very modern, if not futuristic from the outside

    Class 331 at Stoke-on-Trent

I love the rapid acceleration on the 195/331s, it’s one of their few receding qualities. I don’t think ride quality between the two is even comparable, CAF are known for their shoddy ride quality, I’ve never heard that levelled at the 323. I’m convinced the 195/331 seats have some kind of metal...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Smethwick to New Street is my usual 196 commute :) I haven’t been on a /0 once. Though I had 102 the other day, and the ride quality was noticeably terrible, worse than any other 196s

    Class 331 at Stoke-on-Trent

Just my personal experience, of both 195 and 331s. Absolutely rapid acceleration, horrible bumpy ride quality and very uncomfortable seats

    Class 172/1 exams at Doncaster.

The cup holders at every seat were a neat addition, but the refurbished interior will be most welcome on the /1s
  7. NewClee153

    Class 331 at Stoke-on-Trent

For me, it’s a choice between tables on a 331 and comfortable seats + smooth ride quality on a 323. I can’t lie, with the new 331 diagrams on the Stoke/Crewe - Manchester services, (for someone travelling from Birmingham), I’d rather just use CrossCountry and pay more, than save money, go via...

West Midlands Trains Birmingham New Street to Crewe via Tame Bridge Parkway?

I didn’t say it wasn’t useful, I said it wasn’t as useful. Given every other station south of Wolverhampton will receive 2tph to Birmingham

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

I don’t know if this has been discussed elsewhere, but as a result of the unavailability of the 175s, most (if not all) Birmingham to Holyhead/Aberystwyth and Pwlheli services have been cut short to Wolverhampton EDIT: Correction, it has been discussed

West Midlands Trains Birmingham New Street to Crewe via Tame Bridge Parkway?

From what I’ve heard, the new stations will receive the Birmingham to Crewe (via Stoke on Trent) and an hourly shuttle between Wolverhampton and Walsall, re-introducing the more direct service (between Wolves and Walsall), while the 2tph to Wolverhampton will be welcomed, the 1tph to Birmingham...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 Stadler FLIRTs

These FLIRTs are by far the best modern stock I’ve ridden The noise level and lighting is perfect, the level boarding is such as good feature, the interior is extremely smart, the seating is amongst some of the comfiest I’ve come across 10/10 for me. Perfect replacements for the current mix of...

Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

153/9s operate Coryton - Radyr, perhaps TfW have been given dispensation to do so

    May 2023 changes

Agree to disagree. People were standing on the service I got last Sunday, and it was 5 carriages. Maybe not, but they'll be sure to market the changes as revolutionary
  14. NewClee153

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Would I be right in thinking the 196/0s are going to be introduced in twos?
  15. NewClee153

    May 2023 changes

I mean, isn’t that the whole point of a forum? I find it strange that I’m being scrutinised for criticising the lack of service increases, but I haven’t seen anyone else given the same treatment
  16. NewClee153

How can it be that a weekday service has a worse frequency than a weekend service?

May I introduce you to the Brigg line . 3 services each way on Saturday, nothing during the week. Albeit I’m aware this is set to change
  17. NewClee153

    May 2023 changes

My service has been reduced since Covid. So if it’s all the same to you, I will continue to speak out if I believe it’s necessary
  18. NewClee153

    May 2023 changes

How arrogant of me to expect an improved service. I’ll settle and never strive for more going forward. Pulling your leg :D, whilst 2tph is more than some other lines, it’s been 2tph for well over 12 years The CrossCity line appears to be mostly unchanged, when are 4tph to Lichfield expected?
  19. NewClee153

    May 2023 changes

No, I get the point very well I’m aware it’s not under the TOCs control, I was talking about how the timetable change is going to be marketed

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Apologies if this has been discussed prior, but are the 175s been withdrawn completely, or just going off lease for now? The 197s aren’t my favourite trains, but I am really impressed by the rate TfW seem to be introducing them
