    ECML Disruption (shock!) (01/06/2026)

Yes of course, but I was talking about the disruption yesterday which this thread is about, not historical data...I'll amend the post slightly.

    ECML Disruption (shock!) (01/06/2026)

The passengers and staff on the last Grand Central Sunderland to King's Cross yesterday evening must have been pleased to finally arrive in London just after 0100 this morning, some 4 hours and 1 minute late. As the traincrew lodge overnight, naturally as a result the first northbound service...

    Grand Central shenanigans

@357 presumably that's for the Bradford service, did you find any for the Sunderland service for the intending passengers from King's Cross?

    Grand Central shenanigans

Whether there was ticket acceptance or not would've been of little use to any passengers for the 1700 Kings Cross to Sunderland, unless they were at the station well before 1630 and already in the knowledge they could travel on one of the two LNER services to York and beyond at around that time...

    Grand Central shenanigans

Nobody's ranting about anything, I wasn't on the trains involved, however there was zero evidence I could find online or social media of any ticket acceptance being arranged at all, and in my own experience when GC train failures have occurred it has been buy another ticket and claim your...

    Grand Central shenanigans

Yes, there are 3 workings from Sunderland in the morning and it is not unusual for the last one to be cancelled between Sunderland and York. Or, instead of that cancel the 1625 Bradford throughout from King's Cross. and run the unit as the 1700 Kings Cross to Sunderland swapping crews at...

    Grand Central shenanigans

Now I know open access operators are looked down upon here, but GC really are taking the mick. Yesterday Tuesday 26th May, the 1627 Bradford departure from King's Cross was terminated at Doncaster and the passengers left to find their way back to the West Riding route destinations. Then the...

    Grand Central 180107 & 180114 5Z10-5Z12 22/02/2026

Does anyone know why the 10 car consist was operated on 17/5 for a return journey Hartlepool to King's Cross and back?

    Grand Central 180107 & 180114 5Z10-5Z12 22/02/2026

That explains why one of them worked ECS from Crofton to Tyne Yard the day before, making 4 sets there overnight instead of the normal 3...

How reliable is 1M81, 0612 TPE Edinburgh to Manchester?

Much safer to sped a night in the Travelodge on The Strand, and either walk it to the new sea terminal or there is a bus from Liverpool Central bus station that will get you most of the way (not the dedicated ferry bus).

ECML major disruption | 91107 fails at Knebworth (25/04)

Getting off topic I know, but as regards station staff and disruption, personally I think there is merit in bringing all station staff on manned stations, plus those stations, back under direct control of GBR. That would get rid of the attitude of your not our customer, that I and others have...

ECML major disruption | 91107 fails at Knebworth (25/04)

GC catering staff and guards do the clear up themselves mostly en route after Doncaster or York, but yes a fast turn around especially given there is also an operating crew swap between units, as the drivers and guards don't operate both routes. It may have helped that both crews are going...

ECML major disruption | 91107 fails at Knebworth (25/04)

The affect on Grand Central services at King's Cross this afternoon Saturday 25th April. 1N96 now running 94 late towards Sunderland due to the additional delay between Biggleswade and Sandy...

Which UK bus operators, in your own opinion, have the most poorly presented fleet of vehicles?

Quite frankly I, and I suspect most normal passengers, care little about presentation, I'm more interested that the bus actually turns up, runs to time, is in good mechanical order, and has an identifiable route number/destination...I live in a largely Arriva served area, and so I'm well versed...

Major disruption through Retford (16/04/2026) and residual effects over following days

1A69 already running slightly late appears to have lost more time in the Peterborough area due to congestion in and through the station, quite frankly given the number of cancellations and disruption yesterday you were doing well to be on the move at all.

    Azuma seating

Nope, Train was full out of Lime Street mid morning (1054) and anyway from what I could see they were all in a similar well worn state, what with stained and dirty carpets as well, the interiors aren't wearing at all well.

    Azuma seating

The TPE 802 I rode from Liverpool to York yesterday was the most uncomfortable seating I've had for a long time, metal bar syndrome and collapsed padding for nearly 2.5 hours isn't conducive to my old bones, it was a relief to change to a 185 unit for the next hour to Thornaby...

Departure boards LNER - ‘Place small and medium sized bags overhead or under seats’

In airline seats between your legs is usually possible, unless it's a really big rucksack which wouldn't fit an overhead rack anyway.

Signalling fault/cable theft (?) at Newark (eve 21 March)

Which will almost certainly have a knock on effect on it's next working from Kings Cross, the 1300 to Sunderland, assuming the service actually reaches London at all.

Signalling fault/cable theft (?) at Newark (eve 21 March)

In delay terms, I note that Grand Central's 1A69, the 2125 arrival at Kings Cross from Sunderland, eventually arrived just 4 minutes short of 4 hours late according to Real Time Trains, although much of that was due to the train being held at York for slightly over 2.5 hours. Of course, as the...
