Some infrastructure investment is desperately needed too. New rolling stock is brilliant but if like today you get a heat related 20mph ESR on the UM near Stratford and 50mph Shenfield to Southend then it's same old same old delays from the passenger point of view.
This chap can say what he likes, train drivers situation is different from Doctors. Train Drivers work for private companies run for profit. It is not in the interests of those companies to have their drivers on strike.
The real issue IMHO is elitism, where the so called elite have an issue...
Couldn't the stock procured for the GWR that can't run there because the putting up of wires is years behind run on GEML instead until new stock is brought for GEML and the wires are up on the other side of town?:D
I understood drivers had to be specifically trained on 317 722 as its handling characteristics were found to differ substantially from the standard 317.
Agree about Stratford, it's a great interchange station.
My view is that it's great so much has been invested in transport in the London area over the last 10 years. The problem now is getting there! Crossrail is not the answer, it is part of the London transport network.
Figures released by ORR(?) today show Liverpool Street as 3rd busiest station in the UK and Stratford the 10th. Surely that's a massive case that can be put forward for desperately needed investment.
Wonder if a whole load of Chalkwell & Westcliff passengers made their way to Leigh in the knowledge they are more likely to get a seat?
C2C love their PPM figures, wonder how they will react if punctuality takes a hit as a result of all this?
Creatures of habit are commuters.....
I wonder how much of those change was required by DofT when the franchise was awarded? The jist of it seems to be to allow Leigh, Benfleet & Basildon passengers to finally get a seat in the mornings. Peak 4 car trains don't work though! Be interested to...
Hard to say how long you will be DD if you go to Ilford. Joining now you have no right of automatic promotion to mainline driver. You will have to apply when vacancies become available.
Over the last few years it's taken people 2-3 years, but the establishment is now smaller post the cross rail...
Heard a suggestion a while back that the chadwell heath sidings maybe being opened up to help when the big blockade is put in place at Ilford next year. The country end will be closed, and their will be a large loss of stabling capacity. Trains will not be able to depart to London from 1 & 2...
How about the situation where in the pm peak an operator has decided DOO trains must be dispatched by platform staff. But in the morning peak on the same platform platform staff not provided to dispatch the train.
DOO from platforms on your right hand side. Once you sit in the seat you have...
