The Marchwood bypass in rush hour is a complete nightmare to travel on. Reinstating the passenger traffic could reduce traffic congestion on local roads around this area.

What would be interesting to speculate on which rolling stock would be used. Class 230 or 159 since the line is non electrified. Class 230 could be a good possibility due to the Island of Wright receiving them or would it be more sensible to use class 159 since they are already used on the mainland.

Sorry to ask. I understand why drivers would need refresher training on units they haven’t driven for sometime but I’m confused on the training a Guard would need before being allowed to work a unit he/she hasn’t worked on for a long period of time. Thanks

Farnborough had a line that went along the streets of Farnborough to an airfield. The line closed in 1968.

There are still people out there that think the 3rd rail only becomes electrified when a train goes over it.

From memory Mid Hants Railway diesel galas run a class 08 and class 03 brake van rides. This years gala 1st to 3rd June lists 03197 and 08377. Maybe worth keeping an eye on their web site for a time table.

Does anyone know if the remaining Grand Southern 442 units will also receive the traction motor upgrades. Plus would Grand Southern and SWR share thunderbird locos to cover unit failures. Cheers

Mid Hants Railway have just finished their Easter Thomas event. Led to believe it went well. I also understand its one of their biggest events of the year. They run two Thomas events each year with the next one being in August. http://www.watercressline.co.uk/product.php/41/day_out_with_thomas

From memory 10.00 comes to mind regarding the first departure from Alton. Wouldn't like to say what the last arrive time would be. Don't forget this gala is running over two weekends with the second weekend also includes Friday. So arrival and departure times may differ from each weekend. Can't...
