From what I've heard some of them were blowing warm air into the saloon area. Not good when the air con is defective. They put darker windows in to try and stop the heat from the sun getting through. It doesn't need to be a particularly warm day for the temperature inside to become...
I thought the reason they wanted rid of the Scania on the 55 was the air con doesn't work and it costs too much to replace. They tried putting really dark stained glass windows in but that didn't seem to make much difference.
I saw 19150 on the 7 on Monday night.
I've also heard the 7 timetable is being amended to improve reliability by adding 9 minutes running time to daytime journeys.
Optare Versas will operate the X53 and they have been given Express City Connect branding. They will enter service before August 15 so will be used on the X42 initially. Others have been branded for the 747.
The E300s that currently run the X42 are intended to go on the no.7 and will replace...
I agree with Overthewater.
Of course any cuts or changes to services is not going to be favourable with the public. However at least Stagecoach are telling people in advance, when in fact they could simply make the amendments and put out new timetables with only a few weeks' notice. Secondly...
There are also complaints from people in the local press about the 41 Cupar to Kirkcaldy service. Stagecoach want to withdraw the daytime service but the subsidised evening and Sunday timetable will remain. They say they are in talks with Fife Council to find a solution. I don't know if the...
There will be complaints and no doubt the odd petition or two from those passengers affected by these changes. It sounds to me that it has already been decided that these proposals will go ahead despite any feedback or consultation events which take place next week. The bottom line is, if the...
It depends on where you're travelling from and the time you are travelling whether the bus is quicker than the car. In many cases the bus is far from quicker and many still want the convenience of commuting by car instead of various connections on buses, trams etc.
The shuttle buses clearly...
I completely agree that the shuttle services only really suit those working in Edinburgh city. I meant that they were trying to promote using the bus to reduce congestion on the diversion route. That's why the A985 is bus/HGV only. But the best option is still car if you work for example, at The...
I also heard that the off peak journeys were very quiet! People are just avoiding going to Edinburgh unless necessary and you can't blame them. One look at the temporary timetable to see that a half hour journey now takes 2 hours will put people off. They may cut the timings but I don't think...
The timings are a bit of a lottery, though. There is no precedent for this scenario. Things may settle a bit towards the end of the week when people get used to the diversion routes etc. No doubt journeys from Fife to Kincardine Bridge should be ok for buses but the traffic will still bottleneck...
Not sure what changes are in the pipeline for November but I think they will want to keep a low floor vehicle on the 55 route (The Omnilinks may not be replaced yet anyway). All other services between Fife and Edinburgh are step entrance with a wheelchair ramp.
27101 is in use at Dunfermline...
I read that the union did claim they tabled an offer of a pay freeze at the very start of the wage negotiations. They claimed the company rejected it so it was never put to ballot. But circumstances and conditions must have changed somewhat that a reduced pay offer was considered to keep the...
A pay freeze was offered during initial wage negotiations (weeks ago) in order to keep Cowdenbeath depot open. This offer was rejected by Stagecoach.
Don't know if circumstances have now changed, though.
O/T Trident 17515 is currently at Aberhill.
It would appear that Cowdenbeath depot is set to close. A petition is in place to save it from closure. I have no idea about school contracts. Plans to close Glenrothes and open a depot in Kirkcaldy have apparently been shelved.
The rumours about...
The last 7 to Dunfermline on Fridays and Saturdays will confuse/annoy some folk. There is currently a journey which terminates at Colinswell at 2346. This remains, but another bus will start from Aberdour at 2351 to Dunfermline depot. No through service, no connection! The timings are the same...
