Fare evador escapes £8606 train ticket charges

Things are certainly stacked against 'the workers', but it's not the 'non-workers' (whatever that may mean) who are getting the benefit (pardon the pun). It's the true 'shirkers', i.e. the so-called 'elite' who are pitting people against each other (pretty successfully AFAICS) in a false workers...

Only asked to show first ticket: How many people get away with this?

The bigger problem is if people aren't travelling on advances but on split SORs or SVRs (especially the return portion) and end up with a Golden Ticket for the part of the split that hasn't been gripped. I wouldn't take most people very long to cotton onto this, and given the attitude of certain...

Fare evador escapes £8606 train ticket charges

Maybe not, but it is quite fair to expect them not to make judgments about people with mental health, if they do in fact have no experience or knowledge of it.

Fare evador escapes £8606 train ticket charges

Hear hear. The conflation of 'obvious learning difficulties' with 'mental health issues' is all too common and symptomatic of society's less-than-understanding attitude to cognitive disfunction of whatever type. A lot of people I've met seem to have some sort of mental health issue TBH.

XC stop split tickets? Advice please..

As we so often hear when it is passengers breaking the rules, the actions of a minority spoil it for everyone! Touche! ;-) And in my experience of doing this when the grip comes round again he usually remembers that he's seen me, and infers that I must have had a ticket because he didn't kick...

XC stop split tickets? Advice please..

Surely the answer to all of this is for pax to only ever show the ticket that is valid at the point the grip asks for it? This removes any ambiguity at all, and happily would mean that splitting could simply continue even if the NRCoC were amended.

Hall Leys Park miniature railway, Matlock

Yes, and what a shocker it is! This is the photo I found of the apparent sister loco that operated on a line at Matlock Bath. I can remember the Hall Leys one being green. It looks a bit like a pacific version of a Little Giant, like Colossus from the R&ER...

Hall Leys Park miniature railway, Matlock

When I was a very young child my family lived in Belper, and among the very faint memories I have of that time is a green steam locomotive operating along a stretch of track in a park in Matlock. What little I have been able to find online says that the track is still there, but since 1974 has...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

No nothing ever is. I don't even begin to understand what you mean by dying argument of a losing battle. That's just your [convenient] opinion, and nonsense to boot. Don't like what you hear? Brush it aside with clever sounding sophistry. Oh, and Ryanair is a company, not an *industry*...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

Ah, case closed then. If that particular organisation did this then it follows that all organisations do it. Silly me, I have been wrong all along. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- And if that happens I will start asking for itemised receipts and inform my employer. Until then I...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

<sigh> For what seems like the hundredth time, I do not have any problem claiming it back because I am always able to keep the ticket. This means I don't need receipts so don't ask for them. For all the bluster about 'railway rules' they are not applied so it doesn't matter what they are. How...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

I think we need to move away from saying 'my employer does x, y or z' as if this had any bearing on anything. Please just take my word for it that some employers (maybe ones you haven't worked for even) *do* require a ticket, and while this persists then tickets will continue to be retained by...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

It's amazing that you've managed to work for all three available employers in this country. I therefore now understand how you come to know the expenses policies of all UK employers. Please accept my apologies. Just one question though, how would anyone retrospectively look up the cost of an...

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

The former of course, but the fact that a load of staff and cranks on a railway forum know this arcane piece of practical irrelevance don't make it common knowledge with the public I'm afraid. I'll reiterate what snail said: welcome to the real world. Where (appalled silence) some people don't...

Well, the whole G4S business is a disgrace, as much for those employees as for anyone. Doesn't the RMT have something to say about it?

I certainly take the point about cheap advances, but then non-priv holders wouldn't see those as a hideous cost. What about your boxes though? They make up for a lot surely?

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

The idea that railway companies should be able to dictate the policies of all non-railway companies is so arrogant and for the birds that this has taken my breath away. Thank you for giving me the heartiest belly laugh i've had for a while. LOL!

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

Of course railway employees who enjoy privelege travel are often both ignorant of and unsympathetic to the hideous cost and practical issues of rail travel to the rest of us......

TPE altering dates on outbound portion of SOR.

All of this is very interesting, and shows how out of touch I am re receipts, but my point stands that it is academic because I never ask for receipts because I know I will always be allowed to keep my ticket. The one time a gateline assistant looked dubious I suggested he marked it, which he...
