£2 Price Cap on fares in England - Now extended beyond October 2023

Given that the objective appears to be to get those who don't currently use buses to give them a try, the lack of any publicity here in the Medway towns is nonsensical.

    Dartford to Deal

I know that they are now planning a different route, but if they go by Thameslink on another occasion change at Gillingham or Chatham on the putward journey to make use of the same platform interchange rather than using the stairs only bridge or very long walk at Rainham. I live in Rainham and...

ENCTS & cross border validity into & out of Wales

My bus pass, issued by Medway, is only valid in England and not one centimetre into Wales or Scotland. It does work from 0900 for journeys starting in Medway. Although not very well publicised, there is a local arrangement for Kent, Thurrock & Medway pass holders to use it at any time of day on...

These plastic sleepers use 100% recycled plastic so are a better bet than burning it.

    Class 395 Refresh

The seats are not well aligned to the windows today. Do we know that they are increasing the density or reducing the pitch?

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

Medway to & from HS1 goes down to hourly all day. I just hope they put on 12 car trains otherwise it'll often be crush loading.

Through services between Kent (inc. Medway) and Gatwick Airport

There have been at least two coach operators who tried direct Medway towns - Gatwick services. Both failed after a few months due to lack of demand which suggests that a direct train service, particularly if starting from Strood, wouldn't succeed commercially. The reality is that a same level...

Could stock temporarily be brought in from somewhere to replace the class 313 units until the class 377 units arrive?

If the 777s ever enter service there will be plenty of 507s and 508s available.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

I suggest that it would be better if the link from the forum pages opened in a new window by default. I also note that clicking on the forum header on the "tickets" keeps you on the tickets site and doesn't return to the forum site. Is this the design intent?

China Eastern: Plane carrying 132 people crashes in Guangxi mountains (21/03)

Very sad. Before my retirement I visited China regularly on business and was impressed by the domestic airlines and airports. On time, clean, efficient and looked very safe. The in flight meals were a challenge for a westerner, however.

Royal Mail to introduce barcoded postage stamps

In reality have done it before. They did it fairly quickly after decimalisation when everything older, apart from QE2 £1 stamps, was demonetised. What I think is troubling them now is that they have an obligation to accept all stamps from 1971 onwards (Plus a few earlier £1 stamps) at the same...

Royal Mail to introduce barcoded postage stamps

What I have read (I can't find a quote right now) is that Royal Mail's indention was to invalidate all "definitive" and "Christmas" stamps without barcodes at the end of January but that they have relented on Christmas stamps. So this should mean that all the decimal money commemoratives will...
