I'm in Sixth Form and have always had lots of female friends (but more male ones). Girls get on my nerves from time to time and they have their faults but I like some female company.
The documentary wasn't particularly interesting really, and misssed the real issues at Ryanair. Looking behind the scenes at maintenance and engineering would be far more interesting than poor security. The only real problems it highlighted were the atrocious treatment of staff and fatigue...
It doesn't compromise safety - they're not putting the aircraft that close together, just too close together sometimes for aircraft to clear the runway before the next aircraft enters the "safety margin" distance between them. The reason why they can do it is because if aircraft are too close...
Go-arounds are fairly common at busy airports - it would have been because an aircraft in front hadn't cleared the runway either because it had missed the taxiway turnoff or ATC had vectored aircraft in too close to each other (common at places like Heathrow where it is a priority to get as many...
Perhaps some TOCs could cut down on repainting their trains into a new livery every couple of years as well (e.g. FGW who have had 3 liveries since they took over (not including original GWT green)).
I suspect that most of the people who voted for Swallow grew up with BR sectorisation like me (and how I miss those days of IC125s and Class 58s...).
Well the original game itself is very poor (compared to BVE anyway), but like Flight Simulator it can be made extremely realistic if you use high quality add-ons.
I don't know much about buses, except that bus services run by First are very poor, and Stagecoach and Arriva are a lot better. Were bus services better when they were regulated, as I don't think I was around when they were, or is it a similar case to the railways, where there are arguments and...
Yes, Canada is in North America (where else?), as is Mexico and the USA. A lot of people use "America" when they are actually referring to the USA, although I haven't heard many people use "North America" to refer to the USA, as North America is the continent and the USA is a country.
Mike who? Oh, so he's the DfT rail boss. He could have told everyone.
TBH I think it will probably be good news for the railway if he is sacked. So far he has done absolutely nothing and what we really need is someone desperately committed to the railway cause who will shout rail's triumphs...
I voted for Intercity - the Swallow livery was by far the best livery I have ever seen on any train. It would be interesting to see if you can arrange the poll so that people can rank the livery options 1 to 10. I would put:
1. Intercity
2. GNER
3. BR blue/grey
4. MML old colours
5. MML...
Thankyou for explaining that. So basically First will run Sheffield's buses for the indefinite future then? Even more reason to move as far away as I can possibly get.
I don't know about everyone else, but it seems a bit of a disappointment to me - all this investment and years of work to get the same maximum speed that the ECML has had for decades. I've said it before and I'll say it again - the work that has been done on the WCML has not been worth the money...
More bad news - First take over yet more public transport. I'm still waiting for First buses to be kicked out of Sheffield - anyone know when the contract or whatever bus operators have is due to end?
At least I don't live in the Greater Western area, and we still have GNER, Chiltern and SWT...
I'm not scared. I am aware that there is a very small chance that I might die but it doesn't bother me. If you let things like that bother you then you'll be too scared to enjoy life. It's the same when flying - so many people feel scared when flying because they think that they are going to die...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
