Doesn't even seem to be the case for most of the day, seems like a few morning services were stoppers from Swindon but the ones running through the day are fast services like yesterday.
This happened yesterday; I was on one. It's 1tph 12-car 387s Paddington to Swindon (they were using p3 yesterday, cross-platform of course to p1 for the CrossCountry) calling Reading and Didcot.
In other news looks like the collection of the three c2c 387s is happening. Will be good to see that...
Email Avanti here seat.reservations@avantiwestcoast.co.uk well in advance (they're pretty slow). Explain the situation and supply any details about the ticket (booking reference, etc.). Be prepared to have a bit of a back and forth with them over email until they begrudgingly allow it (but they...
I'm under the impression Chiltern are running blockade busters this weekend. Are they just their usual stock (68 loco-hauleds and 168s etc.) or have they hired something in? Sorry if this is answered elsewhere; did have a quick look but didn't find anything.
Thanks for this! And I suppose then that if a train wasn't booked for a passenger stop at Guide Bridge it would have to stop there anyway as an operational stop for the loco change? And what about trains from Sheffield turning right at Penistone or v/v — I assume they would have been steam...
Hi all!
I'm working on a little project involving trains in 1955.
I'm curious about how electric workings worked with through passenger trains (I'm not interested in freight at this time) on the various electrified routes back then:
Through trains on the Woodhead Route — I know the wires had...
40% of capacity for a morning peak service that is normally full and standing will still violate social distancing... I can certainly understand why c2c would not wish to encourage unnecessary journeys.
Does anyone have a May 1992 British Rail South Western Division Carriage Working Notice? If not, one from a close time period would also be helpful. Anything else similar like a Station Working Book/Train Departure Book for somewhere in the area could work too; I'm not precisely sure what each...
Since these are both GBRf workings the allocations display on Realtime Trains itself, just click on the links you posted and look in the bar on the left on desktop or under "Show train information" on mobile!
They are not currently available, presumably as Caledonian Sleeper the TOC would need to agree to them being shown. In general, whether or not the locos are shown depends on which operator is down as operating the service, not who owns the locomotives. So GBRf locos on Colas or CS services won't...
The two-digit mostly-Southern ones ARE headcodes. The four-character alphanumeric codes are NOT officially headcodes; they are reporting numbers. However, the term "headcode" is so widely used at least among enthusiasts that you'd have to be being willingly obtuse to misunderstand. Ultimately...
Presumably 1976 was when most (all?) locations around the country got a train describer so signallers in smaller boxes no longer needed to physically see the train to know what it was?
This has been asked elsewhere. The answer was that the updates come hourly, so depending on how short notice the set swap is you may or may not find out before departure.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
