methinks the government are trying to nationalise the railways by stealth, notice how the dft choose either First, arriva, or stagecoach for all the new franchaises...
I'm thinking about using the caledonian sleeper from preston to Aberdeen, does anyone know why Preston is not on the list of departure points on the bargain berths website and if it is apceptable to use it to get a "ticket" from london but get on teh train at preston?
Most stations I've seen have room for an extra coach or two, besides they could stop when the platform's full then move forward at more than just the north of scotland.
Why not add the average value of travel costs for a given area to the state pension based on a discount so pensioners are less likely to travel for the sake of it yet still effectively don't have to pay and the ones who don't can use the money for whatever they feel fit and it'l be means tested
how about making the trains longer so they can sell more tickets without faffing about with extra route charges, perhaps this extra supply can mean the fares can go down making train travel more popular and stop charging over a tenner for a fry up in the restaraunt so someone would buy it!
