So this was going well until this morning when I see that the
Wien
0940hrs
to
Budapest-Keleti
1219hrs
is cancelled.
Now wondering if I'll get to Arad today in time for the sleeper.
Looks like I'll be at Wien hautbanhhof at 0946hrs which means that I wouldn't have got the 0940hrs anyway...
Thanks for your input - I've bought the ticket and seem to have a, "Dormit lux single" so all good. It has a QR code so maybe it doesn't need to be printed?
Ah, it looks like I may be mistaken. Sorry. I was looking at the wrong Arad to Bucharest night train.
So it looks as though I can't use the Interrail for that journey but the tickets look reasonable. It also looks like I can book them now but if I don't get to Arad in time, I can possibly...
The Astra Trans Carpatic option looks great - I will have used an interrail day to get to Arad so makes sense if possible to also use it on Astra Trans Carpatic. Info online suggests that one can but it's not obvious where to buy a reservation/ Has anyone got any info on that please?
Yes - good point. I put it on the wrong line I think.
I also had to amend as it's too early in the season to go through Sofia I think?
The following is what I now have:
Does anyone have any thoughts on how would it work to go via a stop at Arad in Romania as nwales58 kindly suggested...
Thanks everybody for your input.
I've put my first attempt below but will look to incorporate some of the thoughts above too....

Regarding tickets, do I understand from above that Interrail reservations get harder to arrange the further one gets into the journey? Perhaps I should...
I'm very familiar with London to Greece - using a senior Interrail pass has worked well for me
But this March, I need to get to Antalya....
I've obviously looked at the Seat61 options but thought it would be worthwhile for me to get input here too.
I'm travelling on my own and happy to take 7...
Thanks both for your inputs.
I'm happy to pay the €13 reservation cost here in Italy - not least because they generally don't need much booking in advance.
I'm going to have an early breakfast tomorrow, get the first fast train north that I can and make a decision on the way...
I'll need to...
Does anyone have any thoughts on an alternative re leaving Rimini after 0930 on Thursday through to departing Brussels at 1420hrs on Saturday. I'd need two places to stop of course. I'm keen to avoid interrail reservation fees, not travel before 0930 or after 2030. I've done the Bernina Express...
I wasn't thinking of booking any trains as I have an interrail pass - I was planning on just taking the ICE #16 from Frankfurt at 1014hrs scheduled to arrive Brussels Midi at 1335hrs. Would HOTNAT apply for a scheduled 1420hrs departure from Brussels to London?
The train prior to the 1014hrs...
Last time I walked it, it seemed longer to walk to our seats at the front of the train than it did to walk from station to station.
There's also a small park / landscaped seating area between the 2 stations just before the stairs down.
Thanks for the inputs.
It would be interesting to know if HOTNAT would apply.
Surprisingly the train before is 2 hours earlier. Unless there is a different route I could take - I recall the Man at Seat61 saying that there was an alternative route?
Any thoughts on why DB splits this journey when just staying on the ICE 316 would get one there 5 mins earlier?
Also, any estimates of the % chance of getting on the 1420hrs Eurostar to London with the later connection that arrives in at 1335hrs?
I'll wait to confirm that there is no toilet/shower before I ask them for the €18 difference back but will manage without if need be.
It was https://app.italiarail.com/ that I used and I paid €3.50.
