    92 stock ATO

Yes, while delivering a certain frequency is the aim, delivering a certain frequency SAFELY is the ultimate aim. As it happens, the 100kph running didn't usually occur on the headway critical areas, and it wasn't unusual for trains to run early in those days. The original specification for...

    92 stock ATO

ATO was suspended WEA to EAB WB only until about a year ago, because of the possibility of a train stopping short but within the tolerance at EAB P5 and having the last set of doors off the platform. Chancery Lane's impact on ATO was a Software change to the fleet restricting them to 85kph...

It can be done at the moment, but only by handsignalling and securing the points.

    Reversing Points

Not for the last 23 years it couldn't, they're now doing mods to enable it in case Kings X is ever out of action again.. The most common method when I was at Earl's Court control room was to reverse off the EB platform.

    Tube strike threat over security

As an RMT member I think we're treading on very dangerous ground here. While we have to look at security and safety I don't think that going on strike will help things. Instead it's more likely to alienate the public, especially as some of the points up for debate have been seen previously...

    Walford Station - About It....

The new SSL stock will sound nothing like a 95 TS. Think more class 357 and you're getting close... What amuses me is that you the signal on the viaduct never gets maintained, but it doesn't fail!

Moorgate accident 1975 - Report now online

Only a few weeks after I paid £50 for it on eBay. :( Still, the maps and diagrams were worth it. EDIT: And I see the diagrams are online too :( :(

    Signal numbers (oh signal numbers)

The starters run from W1 to W35(?) (Maths isn't my strong point). The international platforms are W9XX. The home signals protecting the platform are W2 to W12 IIRC.

And WB too, there were a few incidents of technical SPADs approaching Stratford WB in wet conditions.

    Control of the Paignton branch

The U and D signals on the branch are plated DT and UT (Down Torbay / Up Torbay), and they're automatic signals monitored from Exeter. Auto signals traditionally have no control from the signal box monitoring the area save for emergency replacement (and then only normally in newer...
