    Aberdeen Airport - rail link

No, and it will never happen. The airport passenger numbers are much lower than they were 20 years ago during the peak of North Sea oil and gas activity. If the finances for a fixed link didn't work then, they certainly won't now. The Stagecoach 727 bus links the airport terminal and Dyce...

TfW Can't purchase Railcard discounted PlusBus for Return

Are you sure about this bit? Based on recent experience with ScotRail, it seems that not all developers carry out this stage! Do we know which developer codes the TfW app?

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

The app is showing trains have departed on time when they have not. https://x.com/ScotRail/status/2087907406021832747 This passenger seems to have been waiting at Newcraighall. RealTimeTrains agrees with the poster that the departure from Newcraighall was delayed (actual departure at...

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Viewing the results of a journey search. At the first step, tapping on either the underlined blue text or the unhighlighted light grey "Journey details" brings up the journey details. Select a journey and it moves to the next step (fare selection). The underlined text is now either magenta...

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Absolutely zero chance of that happening. There are so many bugs, they won't even have them all on a list to fix. Remember, back on 7th August (before the app update was released), ScotRail COO David Ross said:

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

I am in touch with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport (via my MSP) to request they ask ScotRail for, inter alia, their cost estimate of the reputational damage and lost sales due to the defective app. I have also written to the Transport Committee, requesting they invite...

Tap On Tap Off - Is Overcharging Common?

I have mentioned on the forum before this exact circumstance happened to me in Motherwell on First Glasgow. I did receive a refund on request, but it was less than it should've been and they ignored what I had typed in the refund request, replying with something trite like "please remember to...

Tap On Tap Off - Is Overcharging Common?

This is not the case with First Aberdeen. The capping applies even if you don't tap off. The TOTO fares are: Singles: £2.25 and £3.50 2-trip cap (24 hours): £5.45 Daily cap (calendar day): £5.80 3-in-7 day tickets bundle cap: £15.50 5-in-7 day tickets bundle cap: £23.00 Weekly cap: £27.00...

Tap On Tap Off - Is Overcharging Common?

A periodic reminder that the "fares cap" does not apply to many areas of the UK.

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

I depends on the pacific (specific) situation. 1786113649 Another one (perhaps more heard in Scotland than elsewhere in the UK). People saying "how?", usually in response to being told something which they don't like. The correct word to use is almost always "why?". 1786113857 The name is...

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

The pinned tweet from David Ross (Chief Operating Officer), which had been on ScotRail's X account since lunchtime on 30th July, has been replaced with another pinned tweet from the same hapless senior manager, which continues to downplay the severity of the situation. David Ross says in the...

Trains all at a stand in the Manchester area... (Thursday afternoon 06AUG2026)

Even doing that seems to be beyond what ScotRail senior management have said in the last nine days since their app launched.

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

I noticed the ScotRail app doesn't allow use of the 16-17 Saver, despite it being valid on other operators' services in Scotland. They're not alone in that though: LNER don't show the Club 50 railcard in their app / website, despite it being valid on LNER services in Scotland.

Trains all at a stand in the Manchester area... (Thursday afternoon 06AUG2026)

Perhaps someone put the UPS into bypass mode (e.g. during maintenance) and didn't switch it back when they'd finished what they were doing.
