The restriction to 458/4s in passenger service on the mainline is one imposed by SWR, not Network Rail, related to the safety certification of the stock.
As far as Network Rail are concerned, the stock is gauge cleared and can operate with some exceptions on the slow lines between Wimbledon...
They included mockups of three pins on the tables and also on the foam seat mockup as can be seen in the post I made the other day. The pre-briefing I had at the start of the lookaround session mentioned three pins and that they had put them at an angle to include big block chargers.
When I spoke to the HS2 reps at TGG yesterday they said that blinds would be included as it was the easiest option. They explored using electronically dimmed glass (similar to what is found on Boeing 787 planes) but they decided against it as it was becoming too complex when an easier option...
It would seem that these were moved on from Yeovil in 2012. Owned at the time by 'British American Railway Services'.
This page details the move they undertook to Okehampton https://bars-blog.weebly.com/latest-news.html
As for the particular carriages listed

If I interpret this correctly Kempton Park would fit. Doesn't have a London bound departure until 0918, and from then on half hourly. Only served before 0918 by trains towards Shepperton.
They did during mileage accumulation runs and trips to Bournemouth Depot but won't form normal passenger services that far down. Never say never though as a 707 did manage to get to Southampton in service one day.
701s have wrong side door release protection.
They use the ASDO balises on the approach to platforms to identify what platform they are arriving on and prevent the wrong side from being released accidentally.

1Y14 did yesterday from Twickenham at 1728 with 701031 as you noted down.
So that when driver training resumes in it's shortened, faster version, you don't run into the problem of having too many drivers trained and not enough guards?
701 guard training is still continuing, albeit at a reduced pace to before. 5Q02 is running right now which is a guard practical training run.

They can only currently run on services to Weybridge via Chertsey (via Hounslow or Twickenham) due to gauging restrictions. Hopefully this will expand soon though
The old course was 2 weeks long, 1 week spent on learning traction, 1 on DCO operation. With DCO paused they can get drivers trained in half the time and so back being productive quicker.
Previously, unless they had completed the week of DCO training they couldn’t be deemed competent on 701s.
