It's obvious to me, that the others were in front of the Train Manager and he let them on before boarding himself. The two left behind, were behind. Simple as that.
There is the possibility that it will become more unpopular in the future.
For a considerable number of years, there has been the following agreement:
"BAKERLOO LINE
No more than 3 round trips in the tunnel section to be scheduled without a break,
however 3 round trips plus Elephant & Castle...
170/1s when with Midland Mainline, were Driver door key switch on and release, door key switch off, Guard door key switch on and close and dispatch.
In the driving cab, there was a door deselect button that kept the leading vehicle closed and was used at Long Eaton as an example, where the...
With reference to locos fitted with Slow Speed control for discharging wagons, I believe they had a separate speedo that came to life when it was selected, with 0-5mph as the whole range.
How can I put this...
The 70s. When young men growing their hair long became fashionable.
Were you a long-haired herbert of a student, the sort of young man that the older generation at the time looked down upon for their unruly long hair? A bit like Rigsby in Rising Damp looked down upon...
Must be ex-bus drivers. Why do they always do the opposite of the rules of the road when theres another bus involved?
I was behind a bus the other day which stopped on a roundabout, to let another bus onto the roundabout(!)
Saturdays are part of the working week at all TOCs.
Saturdays are of course more likely to reach the saturation of annual leave quotas due to the items discussed by bramling above. Weekdays likely only use all annual leave quotas during school holidays, with Christmas being the most notable...
But also with Sundays NOT in the working week:
Great Northern (which is in the south!) Thameslink, and Southern - which is in the MIDDLE of South Eastern and South Western(!)
Eurostar - of course!
I knew I'd missed one!
Well actually, I'd only included the publically controlled or franchised...
For Drivers, all TOCs have Saturday as a normal day.
The following...:

Trans Pennine Express
The Eastern part of Northern
Transport for Wales
South Eastern
South Western Railway
East Midlands Railway
London Underground
London Overground
Elizabeth Line
Tyne & Wear...
A bit poor? The newspapers deliberately chose the headline as they do anything to slag off train drivers at every opportunity.
It is daft. The wording on a Duty Travel Pass is that it is 'only valid when the holder is carrying out a legitimate operational role, including attending training at...
You are quite correct in stating it's Train Managers and On Board staff that are taking industrial action due to class 810s 'not being fit for purpose'.
One of the issues is that the push bar exit on the driving cab door to the saloon has had occasions of failure. My understanding is that the...
Remember Charles Horton standing down from GTR for the 2018 timetable meltdown? When did GTR find out the routes it was supposed to be running? Was it in good enough time to train everybody with the required route knowledge?
Was it ALL Charles Horton's fault?
But he's the only one who resigned...
I doubt EMR are going to pay out any extra money to hire in trains from spot hire companies.
Or to pay for extra trains to be leased, or to pay for training staff on them, or pay for overtime to cover people whilst they are released from their normal duties for training on them.
No doubt they...
