Just passed a broken down 60 plate coach in the new livery, Northbound on the A1 just short of Dunbar. Didn't catch the reg or fleetnumber.
So now I can say having seen it in the flesh it still doesn't work for me. Screams school bus and up here will cause far more confusion (I'm thinking with...
All the East Lothian towns - North Berwick, Dunbar, Haddington, Tranent, Prestonpans, Musselburgh all now big three free since First packed it's bags a few years ago.
Is there a view on whether the Bus 2020 plan allows for any exceptions, or will it be the end of the line for the open top Tridents and Scanias that are still owned? Will the promotional Dart also need to go?
On one hand you'd say yes but the preserved fleet is presumably exempt so surely that...
Can't see them at Northern. Would create more problems than it would solve.... Clearance. Training. Maintenance. Storage. Press would have a field day 'More London Cast Offs' etc.
If they had been DMUs however...
I had a run on a 331 pairing on Preston to Manchester Airport a few weeks ago, I normally commute daily on ScotRail 385s so I was looking at it from a comparative perspective.
Where I'd say the 331 is superior:
PIS - vastly better than 385s prehistoric looking set up
Seat to window alignment...
I can't fathom the business logic here. You rebrand for good reason, I don't see what that's meant to be in this case. Its a strong, recognisable national brand.
Pre Euro 5 your looking at the Irish plated ex Arriva and native 04/55 plate B7 singles and surviving native 55/56 plate B7 doubles I reckon.
Based on that all three fleets will need some form of replacements either directly or via cascade as the 2020 commitment is off fleet not just off city...
From a combined passenger and enthusiast point of view the rare Dennis Dorchester, in particular the Alexander TE bodied ones new to Central were great - always felt rapid and were comfortable.
Moving to more modern times the B10M/PS type combo hasn't been bettered for me.
I was of course just reaching for a cheap laugh, unsuccessfully :D
I can't offer hopes or dreams but I do think LEZ and ULEZ zones will continue to appear all over the place in the inconsistent way that they have started to, which will cause the bigger groups headaches as they will run out of...
Post Brexit Euro 6 will be superceded by UK 1 which will mandate that no bus will be allowed into service unless the exhaust fumes kill at least sixty five poor people per passenger mile travelled.
Fleets around the country will rush to acquire older stock, raiding museums, scrapyards and even...
Yeah that's where I looked all X7s listed start in Dunbar no shorts listed.
I've emailed them, will see what I get back once they get back to it over the next few days.
Thanks, I'd missed that some how.
I'll have a butchers at the timetable, that's what I've been eagerly waiting for so I can ditch ScotRail for my commute!
Edit - can't find them on ECB timetable nor LB journey planner - do you know the times or a source I can check with?
The full length route at peak needs deckers so the most logical solution in my mind is to run Haddington shorts - but as that requires more drivers and vehicles it doesn't feel imminently likely nor would it help the 30 out.
